The main issue right now is that we don't have enough players for a second server. I realize that the EU player base is fairly healthy but during NA and AUS primtimes we experience very diminished numbers. A second server would all but ruin the population for those players. Perhaps once we get the player base to a point where we have enough people playing the majority of the day that the server is starting to stress out, a second server could be a good option but right now we just don't have the numbers to justify it. If you have some ideas for beefing up the NA and AUS crowd, I'm interested to hear them.

I prefer the one server thing we have going on. Part of the charm with single server communities is everyone starts to know each other by name, rivalries form and dont forget that sweet guild v guild drama. Multiple servers would just split the community too much.

With that mentality it surely won't.

Everyone here wants the best for the game and community which why we only have 1 server. Tell me, how would splitting up the community benefit the game exactly? Are you mistakenly assuming that our player base isn't bigger because there's 1 server? You've got it backwards, jack.

I think the underlying statements are as follows:

Him: The ping to EU server is the issue. NA playtimes suffer because running around at 200 ping and trying to strategically punt an opposing player is the sub-definition of insanity. If there was a US-Based server (Read as NA-Based) the ping would be much better and there would be more activity.

Devs: We are trying to make the very best game we can and don't need a 2nd ALPHA server that's not within our sphere of control to muck up the works. Having 2 servers will probably cut the primary server down to near zero NA playtime participants due to the ping being so much better; however, they would be running sub 20 ping while guarding the mailboxes in the major cities because there isn't the NA population to support any real sustained action. The source code is closed for this reason, but perhaps, once we (read as the devs) have the game where we want it (Read as in Two Weeks™) we may (Read as MAY) release the code or may not.

To the OP: Enjoy the game, test and test and then test the game. Report bugs. Live with the growing pains of IMBA classes and terrain kills. It may (Read as MAY) get better over time or it may not depending upon your ideas on how the game/classes/abilities should work.

Me: I've resigned myself to wait and see. Deal with the frustrating issues currently in-game by finding work arounds in group comp or avoiding situations that are being taken advantage of by opposing classes as much as possible. My advice is to relax and enjoy the game. Recruit some friends and try to help build NA playerbase.

I'm an EU player, the ping is awesome and the game is great as well. I have no complaints at all for the superb work developers have put in this project. My only concern is getting the game more popular and having more servers to choose from. There has to be a way to solution through constructive conversation and work.

The reason with having multiple servers is clear and will increase total number of players and present the game as a worthwhile time investment.

Saying that having 1 server is better than having more is a statement with no logical point. For example, a real life example is WoW - they have hundreds of servers yet only couple are popular, dozen are decentish and several dozens quite low. The idea is that people want more servers so they can have their place to call home and have their own micro-communities. All successful games offer that. Now on the other hand, games which offer low amount of servers end up being abandoned eventually as there is no self-defense mechanism for the game popularity or reason to come back if you get tired of 1 server.

I'm quite certain should a new server open it would get few hundred players easily. And then more and more can keep rolling out.
It's an investment worth doing, knowing how cheap the servers are these days. And it is good for the game and community.

I honestly think you are wrong, more servers != more interest in the game.

But there is also the issue with hosting more server (outside of this staffs control) could mean that someone would take donations and thus threaten our existence if EA/GW decides to go after us because someone is gaining money.
