From the top of my head and in no particular order:
- Lights Out (not a masterpiece, but decent and rich on jump scares)
- Don't Breathe (same as above)
- Ti West films, like: The Innkeepers and House of the Devil (great stuff)
- Bone Tomahawk (western-cannibal horror mash-up. Good stuff)
- Goodnight Mommy (unpleasant and creepy as f*** -in a good way)
- Amer (giallo homage that rocks. Fantastic)
- Kill List (just see it, it'll grab you by the balls and not let go)
- What We Do in the Shadows (vampire mockumentary. Hilarious and scary at the same time)
- Antichrist (Lars von Trier. Need I say more?)
- Berberian Sound Studio (also a great giallo homage horror - and just great, good fun)
- I Saw the Devil (korean - but highly recommendable and quite possibly a masterpiece)
- The Babadook (not a personal favourite, but a lot of people like it - and it has plenty of jump scares)
- It Follows (basically an homage to John Carpenter, Halloween and all the other 80s stalker flicks. If you like those, you'll most likely love this)
- Haute tension / High Tension (french and pretty extreme)
- Inside (also French, extreme, gory and not for the faint of heart)
- Raw (more french, veterinarian students with a craving for fresh meat. Not for vegetarians)
- Rec (spanish zombies on the loose - sequels also pretty decent)
- Under the Skin (much more than a horror flick - but it does indeed get under your skin. Not rich in cheap thrills, tho)
- The Neon Demon (more moody and artsy - but with a bloody macabre finale)
- Beyond the Black Rainbow (insane psychedelic sci-fi horror made by the stoned-out son of the man, who gave us Rambo)
And of course old school stuff like The Thing (apropos Carpenter), Argento's Suspiria (apropos giallo) and The Entity (apropos sleazy, misogynistic stuff)
