Honestly like 20% of the time with WAR I have the opposite problem where no one ever dies and their hp bar just never moves, and takes like 3 dedicated dd all hitting 1 target just to kill someone. Sometimes 50% inc heal debuff just doesn't feel like enough. Those SCs where thinking about fighting enemy team is just like hitting your head against a brick wall are the most unfun to me. It's even funnier when it's both sides and it's just 1 never ending fight where no one ever dies, might as well disengage and go pve flags, only taking 1v1 or favorable fights.
You want to not die? Roll a DoK/Chosen, then get a partner of whichever of the 2 you're missing. From rank 10 onwards enjoy 2vXing people because you will never die without 12+ people hitting you at once.

Re: Whats with pvp games?
Difference in classes and gear/ability imo.
My Z by and large laughs on the initial engagement if someone targets him. I just have the tools necessary to survive(9k HP buffed+stacking toughness), refill(CW3+pots), and run(Embrace the Warp) after the KD+initial Burst, so his timing with Detaunts is forgiving. My AM? Not so much. If I am KDd w/o a detaunt up, I don't stand back up. Or I stand just in time to see my skull go Pop. Far less forgiving on Kiting/positionals.
My advice though, is to check your combat log after you Pop. See what is killing you, and alter your defenses to adjust for that(if you see it often enough). For example, if you are getting blown up by non-physical damage, you need to boost you resistances. Maybe go farm up the Winds Impervious ToK jewels, and stack Toughness instead of Armor talis. Maybe alter your RR spec for more dodge/disrupt. Don't be afraid to burn 50g on a new set of Talis to test some stuff out, or to alter your RR 15 times until you find a balance that you like.
Change your Detaunt/survival abilities to a Mouse-button, or other easy to reach Hotkey, and spend a little bit of time practicing target/Detaunt so it feels comfortable and can be done in the heat of battle with little thought.
The first step is determining where the main damage is coming from, and how you can negate some of this. The 2nd is to test and practice.
Gl to you.
Edit: Also.. In terms of "balance" and "strength" or how any class or system works outside of T4... Don't worry about it. T4 is where things come together and you actually realize what "spike damage" means...

I miss the old good live server days when my DoK could reach 6.6k armor... or even more with better pots.Tropico wrote:Honestly like 20% of the time with WAR I have the opposite problem where no one ever dies and their hp bar just never moves, and takes like 3 dedicated dd all hitting 1 target just to kill someone. whilst still having superior heal output to clothed healers, lol
anyway, some classes are simply meant to die faster; clothed healers, glasscannon dps, casters in light clothing, mdps with focus on offensive stats instead of defensive stats, offensive specced tanks...
WAR would never advance if people never died! Consider your death a gift to the opposing realm. <3

Re: Whats with pvp games?
Sadly most likely a L2P issue. And i mean that with no condescension. So many questions remain :
1- Are you using keybinds (i.e. not clicking) ?
2- Do you know all your keybind ?
3- Do you know every skill in the game ?
4- Do you know the standard rotation of every enemy class ?
5- Do you know how to counter them ?
6- Do you make the most use of ALL your abilities ?
7- Do you spec in a way that is comfortable for you ? or just a random cookie cutter.
8- Do you use a good choice of gear, talisman, potions to optimize your stat distribution to enhance the strengths and somewhat hide the weaknesses of your particular play-style ?
9- Have you played your class as much as the people exploding you ?
If you answer no to one of those questions, then there's your problem. If you seriously can answer yes to all of the above, then go post some suggestions in the balance forums.
Gotta realize PvP games are 75% about knowledge, 25% about decision making skills and 100% about gear. Peace.

Re: Whats with pvp games?
Son, that's 200%... More like this game - as it currently sits seems to be about 75% skill (which includes knowledge/decisions) and 25% Gear/Level. When this game was live it was 75% gear and 25% skill/knowledge. (no, not kidding) That's also why this game was pretty broken towards the end of it's life. Broken in both T1 because of massive twinks then later removal of twink drops which caused a deep imbalance between noobs and twinks and in the later game with grossly OP gear (Sov anyone?).Eathisword wrote:Gotta realize PvP games are 75% about knowledge, 25% about decision making skills and 100% about gear. However he does have a point as this game tends to be 'burst' oriented compared to many other PVP games. SWTOR comes to mind where I was a heavy PVPer. Battles can last quite a long time. 1v1 in SWTOR is usually very satisfying and has a pretty long duration per battle which leaves you quite satisfied. If battles are too quick then you feel cheated out of a good experience.
In fairness - RIGHT NOW this game isn't nearly as bursty as it was on live. I hope they 'preserve' that and don't go overboard like EA did when they trashed this game towards the end. I remember dying to SOV geared guys in 1-3 seconds regardless of what class I was on, including an Annihilator BO, a SOV WH could dispatch me in 3 bursts.
So be thankful that right now this game - which still a bit too bursty isn't nearly as bad as it was on live.. Pray to RNGesus it doesn't get anymore bursty!

Re: Whats with pvp games?
Son... you never played any sports did you ? Every coach in history knows that no victory is attainable with a 100% effort. It takes at the very least 110%. So 200% is plenty fineKobra wrote:Son, that's 200%... More like this game - as it currently sits seems to be about 75% skill (which includes knowledge/decisions) and 25% Gear/Level.
