So, as the title says, I'm here to bring to your attention the price of respecializing mastery trees.
I am at a point where respec costs around 5-6 gold.
I often help guildies with quests, powerleveling, and lairs, which requires a PvE chosen, then is rvr time, which requires a mobile tank, after that scenarios, so it's time for the next build, and eventually, what I really like, that is a massive, blood soaked axe to gut some dwarves.
The point is, I literally don't have 10 golds per day for respeccing. I can't see myself rolling a second chosen and re-equip him with 2hander sets.
Here the two (three) proposals:
1)Lower significantly the respecialization price.
2)Make available steady templates for an initial, one time only fee (example: extra template 1 20 gold, template 2 50 gold, template 3 100 gold) which can be switched at a trainer.
3) (the hippy in me) Let the people have the power to decide and spec as they want with no fee whatsoever. Can't blame me for trying.

The respec prices serve as one of many methods to avoid a gold inflation.
From the experiences so far, the majority of the playerbase doesn't seem to understand why a gold inflation is bad for everyone. For the same reason, i expect that the renown respec will cost gold too, once the UI will be fixed.

That I understand. For sure you have to pay, (my last proposal was just a joke). On your side you understand that some classes need it more than others. Keep the respecialization costs, but allow a long term fix. In the actual way, to players like me who don't have 5k in the bank, nor the time to make them, the game is simply limited.
If you want to stop inflation, there are other ways. (gold cap, to name one.)

We need to pay for them too to learn them, like we did on live?

I don't know if it is known yet how to communicate this to the client (it wasn't known in the past afaik).

High respec price (and eventual upcoming Renown Points respec and/or skill train fee) is bad gold sink imo. I mean it is effective way to siphon gold from game, but at same time it kills people helping others / properly respecing before changing role.
Good way of introducing gold sink was AH fee. High respec price is bad.
General gold sinks that equally target those players who have lot of gold and those who have little - only drive away those players who don't have much time to play and/or promote players buying gold for real $$$ to avoid increase gold grind necessity.

So many contradictions. It has been said multiple times that this is an alpha server and we are "testers"? So, lowering the respec costs allows people to test multiple specs and ensure that abilities are working correctly, no? Many people understand what gold inflation is Luth, but your answer is quite silly.

Because even if we are in alpha and you are all testers, when we eventually hit beta or even stable we would have a giant gold issue if we did not have gold sinks or wipes.

I'm intrigued by idea two. You'd pay a big upfront fee to be able to switch from one build to another for free? I don't know if it's feasible code wise but I think a lot of classes would be able to benefit from something like this, while still charging those who want to experiment with a million different builds.

What about if you got a certain amount of free respec in a particular time frame? Even if you got two free respec per week (to switch from main build to off build and back), maybe only for r40s, it would be nice.

There are enough players online to report ability/tactic bugs and tbh 50% of the reported bugs are without any evidence, sometimes very dubious and/or plain false reports due to a lack of understanding how the mechanics worked on the old server or people didn't read the changes on RoR.Renork wrote:So many contradictions. I guess many players don't remember anymore what had to happen to get rid of the massive inflation that has been caused by an exploit over a year ago. It was caused by few players with lots of money; now we have lots of money too, but in the hands of many more players. The potential to wreck the economy is probably the same, though the market can not be controlled by only a few and so it should be a little more robust. Money must be taken out of the system via different channels (i wrote that respec costs are one of many methods to achive that), otherwise it is the same as printing more and more money IRL.
I think that an auction house fee is not enough to stabilize the prices, so that new players don't quit the game right after they looked into the AH for the first time...
Sorry, i know it's Christmas, but i don't buy any heartwarming stories about a community that is full of selfless Samaritans who only want to help others (i mean the community as a whole, not single individuals).
Capitalism does work because people are selfish and it's the job of the state to govern it, so that no one can do serious damage to wreck the system.
