BWs Vs Sorcs

Hey everyone! Apologies if this isn't the best place to be posting this. And sorry for such a long post.
So I main a sorc and have been playing him regularly since I started on RoR. I just hit 36 and have 19% crit, 988 int with a pot.

Naturally I'm curious about my order counterpart the BW. Everyone I've talked to that plays a BW or a Sorc says they prefer BWs. They say that sorcs are able to do more burst damage, but I haven't seen that to be the case, even if it is, it doesn't matter much when good BW's can still 100-0 people in a rotation.

So i made a BW to check out all their abilities and I was pretty surprised. BW's seem to have everything good that a sorc has and more. I saw that they have all the core abilities needed for your burst rotation as well as:

a 50% heal debuff, an instant ranged knockdown, an ability that increases armor on a 30s cd, a cleanse, and an instant snare.

Okay.... and what do sorcs have that's useful that BW's don't have?

Swell of Gloom tactic, which makes gloomburst basically hit twice (awesome), an ability that increases resists for 20s on a 60s cd (though to be honest, I dont really notice the defensive buff this gives me) We have a 10% dmg buff to one target for 20s that reduces our dmg to all other targets by10% on a 60s cd.

So on paper it seems pretty obvious that BW's have more in general, especially utility. And someone could argue that Sorcs have he potential to do more outright damage, but like i said BW's can still 100-0 people just as easily as Sorcs (if not better with their other utility). So that extra damage with sorcs is really negligible most times. The advantages are especially noticeable against mdps, where a BW has 2 more options to use while kiting (the instant snare and ranged knockdown). Sorcs have a 2s cast time snare, and a root that breaks with damage.

Literally the only reason i see to play a sorc over a bw is the faction... I'm a destro player, for lore reasons and the community I play with, but I would play a BW in a heartbeat over a sorc if the people I played with switched to Order.

I might be missing something, and by all means please let me know, trust me, I'm happy to be wrong, I dont like feeling like my class isn't as good as the mirror. What this all really comes down to, is that both these classes do a ridiculous amount of damage, they can both 100-0 people when your abilities line up and crit, so what makes one better than the other is the utility that they bring, and BW's have that by a landslide.

Edit: so looking further I also saw that BW's have funnel power, which is similar to Sorcs shades of death, however it's a toggled ability that lasts until you turn it off. this is infinitely more useful than Shades of Death which you have to use a GCD for and only lasts 10 seconds, hits 5 times and is at the top of the tree.

Simply not true the order classes have some advantage over their destro counter parts or in some cases like slayer v choppa are straight up superior


Bw v sorc the former has superior aoe while the latter has better st and orders bombing potential is much greater due to how much better WW is to chop fasta

alright, well this definitely isn't true. Look at engi vs magus for example. that's blatantly in favor of the engi.

I like how the sorc and the BW looks, but they could have toned down on the random head/shoulder/hand cages.

Sorcs have better hair. They're also all married to Malekith. ...the females, anyways. Why would anyone want to play a BW?
