I have a suggested this before in the WP class forums, but now that the balance forum is up I thought I'd make a post here to propose it for discussion. (I can see it's in competition with another WP thread, but I think making it about a more general mechanic could be more useful, and proposing whole reworks of a single class is always a bit iffy)

As it stands one of the main flaws of both the Wrath tree for WP's and the Torture tree for DoK's is that they have absolutely no interaction with their resource mechanics whatsoever. They can use Rend Soul/Divine Assault, sure, but they both still stand as the only two skill tree's in the game that have NO interaction with their resources at all. I can only speak for WP's as that's the class I play of the two, but the Wrath tree is completely terrible at the moment and could definitely use a buff. I'm not sure if it matter's as much for DoK's as devour essence is a great skill so if they already have a great way to spend their resource then I suppose it wont be as much of a buff for them.

The 13 point skills in their respective skill trees (Wracking Agony/ Hammer of Sigmar) are both pretty terrible. They are one of the few attempts Mythic made at an execution mechanic in the game but end up just being a mediocre damage skill which is only usable some of the time. I think keeping with Mythic's theme would be a good idea as it would be something that differentiates a dps WP/DoK from other mdps, but making these skills into resource spenders would be a great way to give these two skill trees some interaction with their resource mechanic as well buffing 2 completely useless skills, and one completely useless spec.

My idea would be that these skills are now ONLY usable under the 50% threshold and spend all available resource to deal either flat extra damage or up to a 200% damage bonus (numbers are obviously changeable, a %damage bonus might scale too well with crit, for instance). This would make them into high risk reward skills that deal heavy damage but leave you without resources to cleanse/ heal yourself and others, whilst also keeping WP/DoK different from other mdps.

And before people start yammering "DoK & WP aren't dps!" we have 3 tree's to work with, a healing tree, a melee healing/support tree, and a damage tree. Wrath and Torture were designed for damage and it'd be risky to make them more support oriented as you run the risk of giving classes who are already great supports even more utility!

Now, I'm aware the DoK & WP's are balanced pretty differently - with Torture being far superior to Wrath, and it goes without saying that I think WP's should have a 50% Healdebuff to match DoK's. Generally speaking about DW vs. 2h classes though, DW seems to outperform 2h due to parry bonus and more procs & auto attack damage, so in terms of the general game I think there are some mechanical changes to be made that could decrease the gap between them without changing the classes themselves too much.

We are declining all Dok/WP proposals atm. Aza has already stated that he has plans for these classes, but requires client control.
