Re: [Engineer] The Workshop (builds, guides, and discussion)
I thought m2 was nerfed a lot in the patch from 10/28/16, is it still worth using?

It is reduced but the increase in damage is still worthwhile for spiking. Cannon smash will now be a better choice to spike, but M3 takes a while to get up to even if you gear for + morale. Remember you can use M2 after a snipe / gunblast due to travel time, meaning you can easily follow up with focused fire. It is good for a sudden spike and with 2 engi's working together you can cut through 2-3 targets before they can adapt if they are not careful.Al4n wrote:I thought m2 was nerfed a lot in the patch from 10/28/16, is it still worth using?
Focused mind in M2 is also a good choice, but a common issue with it is the heavy AP cost from spamming fast gunblasts, and the fact that the key to killing is spike not dps. Most enemy healers are doks in premades, and they use fast group heals at 1s. If you want to kill something you need to spike it in between heals. Spamming 1s gunblasts, even if you are hitting hard at 1.4k is not going to work since the dok or doks will out heal your dps easily. You need to do 4-5k in 1-2 second between the heals and the only ways to do that is with M2 snipe with a crit / hipshot + focus fire, or a snipe crit + cannon smash.
With two or three engi's assisting the importance of morale abilities becomes less because with tight assisting you can near instantly kill a squishy with a well timed double / triple snipe.
But even with morale it is important to remember that your dps is wasted on an armor tali stacking dok / mara, or any half bright tank. 75% armor mitigation, combined with detaunt / guard / challenge will destroy your dps. Even if you have no points in grenade to kill these targets toss up acid bomb and move to firebomb. It is a better option even if limited.

Alright sounds good, thanks for the information.
I am excited to get Focused Fire, it sounds like a good ability.
What is your opinion on Phosphorus Shell in the Riflemen tree? I have been asking around and apparently it is absolutely garbage, but I wasn't sure if it was changed at all in a previous patch? I like playing riflemen but I do miss all the AoE from Grenadier/Tinkerer

Re: [Engineer] The Workshop (builds, guides, and discussion)
Phosphorus shells is just not a very good ability. The damage on both the dot, and the direct damage portion are really low, and even with a glass cannon build, and acid bomb up it is still incredibly low. It is aoe, but the damage is so low many see it as a waste of AP, and of a GCD.Al4n wrote:Alright sounds good, thanks for the information.

It has limited useful to trigger procs, but it is still not very useful.
If you want a little AoE in a rifle build I recommend using your extra points to get lightning rod in tinker. Lightning rod combined with friction burn and M2 is okay aoe damage.
Re: [Engineer] The Workshop (builds, guides, and discussion)
But the idea of a riflebuild is to stay in the back, far out of range. Rod places below the feet and is useless unless on the run?Karast wrote:Phosphorus shells is just not a very good ability. I understand you ! I moved to rifleman path after the patch and it was fun to be able to kill everyone . But I missed my grenader /tinkerer path a lot . Now I'm back on a full tinkerer and i try a tanky engineer to be a support class ( I use Ap regen turret tactic , + 50 % cast time tactic on every healer /caster , disarm mdps, and constant interrupt). With big def stats I can stay in melee and do the bad job . I have more fun than killing everyone with sniper . I feel that I'm usefull in some scenarios now .Al4n wrote:Alright sounds good, thanks for the information.

Re: [Engineer] The Workshop (builds, guides, and discussion)
This sounds interesting, I have been spending so much gold the past few days constantly respeccing and trying new things, I tried the tinker tree (only lvl 31) but I didnt like it that much it felt like it was as good AoE as Genadier, and no single target comes close to Riflemen, but I suppose it would work as a support tree, maybe I will try it again when I get some better gear.Grunbag wrote: Now I'm back on a full tinkerer and i try a tanky engineer to be a support class ( I use Ap regen turret tactic , + 50 % cast time tactic on every healer /caster , disarm mdps, and constant interrupt). Yes you need anni gear for def bonus . I think you can do it at rank 40 but with this spec forget to make lot of dmg , that's not what you're meant for . I'll ask if ppl feel any difference with a support engineer .

What are people's opinions for rifleman now the crit on the merc set and the weaponry is reduced? I was planning to make a sniper build like below. Are tracer rounds still worth it? Mixing sets perhaps? Ruin still has the +3% crit on it.

Tactic wise I can add armor and well oiled machine for scenario of fast moving situations. Keg is handy and usefull for my guild's formations event.

Quick info:
Grenadier Tactic Extra Powder seems to be bugged.
It currently increases radius of Acid Bomb but not Frag Grenade.
I made a bug report for it.
