The Verminous Horde?

So I was looking for a new Skaven Wallpaper and came across a WAR wallpaper for I believe an expansion called The Verminous Horde which according to the article has the Skaven as a playable race

Now I haven't followed WAR in its last years so I didn't even know this was a thing.
Was this ever released? and if yes, is this ever going to be added into the Private Server? I'd love to play as a Skaven

It's not what you're thinking- they weren't fully fleshed out careers- they were more like "session plays"
You'd hit t4- visit a skaven- then you'd pick on of the four careers to play as in orvr only.

By the looks of it, yes this was released on the Live servers back in 2010 as Patch 1.4. I think we are on 1.3.4. But here's the link I found about being able to play as Skaven. https://www.engadget.com/2010/11/18/the ... war-today/

Hopefully in the near future we'll see 1.4.7 content. All depends if the devs have access to the patch builds.

Skaven would be a fun playable race...Problem is I don't think there was much in the way with "skinning" armour sets. I personally like the idea of having a alternate appearance mirror. Functionally the same as an existing class but you have a permanent racial appearance.

Doubt this would ever happen, but I think having the odd Ogre or Skaven gutter runner running around could be neat. As for creating it's own classes with unique skills upgrades, and armour, that would require a ridiculous amount of resources and time.

They have other things they need to fix before they can start working on the Skaven careers....
A lot of people on live were asking for a playable Skaven race and this was Mythic's response.
The game was already in it's final leg and had adopted the p2w model- so creating a fully fleshed out career would've required too many resources. Armour sets alone would've taken ages.
