Fact is, this game is currently way more of a grind than it ever was on live.

You see it's really quite the opposite: medallions and emblems are accessible to all regardless of playstyle (you can solo in the lakes and be guaranteed a medallion for everyone you kill, you can go as a group and be given the medallions by everyone passing on them so as to boost you quickly - which is what my guild does to help boost people - and you can join warbands and get medallions coming in their dozens).

As explained above, you can either solo or get friendly with a good DPS. Good DPS will get a lot of killing blows, so that you as a healer/tank can get medallions. Our healer, Mathi, needed some medallions on his DoK so we spent about an hour and a half in the zones getting him medallions, and at the end of it he walked away with like 40 medallions. not that bad tbh.

'Wealth' in this context is not the best word to use: it is very easy to gear up on any toon provided you are at least willing to put some effort into it!. Equating anyone that does just this as a trump person is just indicative of a sore loser mentality - a la 'i want everything but they wont give it to me and i need someone to blame'.

If you sincerely believe that RoR in its current state can even be called a grind (those incredibly rare purple bags aside) then you are most fortunate for never having had to endure any game that actually was.

as an aside: it would be nice if people could stop with the subtle insults at anyone who actually believes in putting in some effort for their rewards.

I could go out solo and try to kill someone. Not gonna happen. Unicorns will cross my path first.
Having a group is great. Not all of us have that available. When I join a warband, it certainly doesn't increase my medallions, as I am rolling on them with everybody else. Luck, not a concept I am conversant with.
At least in live I could get currency from zone locks and taking keeps. If I was one of those working to hold the zone and it locks, I damn well deserve something for the time put in. Why else would I put in those hours in the lakes?

I agree that with a good group you can get a good amount of medallions in a short amount of time. But that requires a helpful guild/friends. That not everyone has due to what ever reasons. So they have to join a WB. If the other side doesn't have enough to make a stand and fight then its just attack doors and lord so potential drops goes down then have to compete for the few that do. Then manage to lock the zone don't get anything. So some player spend hours hammering away on doors and lords and waiting for BOs to cap and see no progression in gearing other then some infl/renown/xp.

Last night for example I was able to get onto ram for both outer and inner gates. Then managed to do enough damage pull aggro from lord, one shot did 95% of my hp, didn't get a bag . Not sure how that happened think that is its own issue. I hear the bag system is a little bad atm. Anyway, then area locked got 1 medallion from fight had with destro who tried to defend and the normal xp/infl/renown for cap.

The current medallion system actually increases the gear gap. Premade groups are able to easily farm medallions, while casual warband players are forced to pray for gold bags.

It's also a little strange that the dev team wants to incentive objectives in scenarios, while incentivizing killing and showing up at the last second for a bag roll in RvR.

Thery have many times said that the current system is temporary so do not judge theoir intent based on how it is now.

Why can't we just get medallions on the 50 player kill quests? If there is a good fight in a whole pairing, this would mean you could get 15meds + additional from drops.

Why no meds from lake kill quests?

I was never a fan of significant artificial barriers to competition.

I don't understand the concept of "working" for gear in a game whose gameplay is about the PvP, and not about gear accrual. "Working" in Warhammer was about putting in the effort to beat your opponents. I wouldn't mind if everyone got free Annihilator at level 40 and modest token accrual achieved the top end gear.

Gear is a carrot, originally MMOs wanted you to play for long periods of time to stay invested, these carrots would allow you to stay focused on your goals. I think gear should be as accessible as it is for that gear to be relevant...I.e By the time you get to the point you can wear the gear, you should have most if not all of it. Endgame gear withstanding. Problem Alpha testers are having is that each release of tiered armours is "endgame" equivalent

No point in having gear that is obsolete shortly after getting it or getting gear way before you can actually use it. Neither has any sense of accomplishment with the former not even attempted.

the problem with medallion hand outs and participation prizes is that it rewards laziness. RP is already easy to get, the last thing we want to reward is players that don't even want to work for their gear. By not handing out medallions at locks we assure that any play that seeks to advance without work will not have the gear to go with his RR.

Right now if you want to be competitive you can get ruin gear, in lower tiers you can get the consignment quest gear. Once you have this set you can work on getting better gear. IMHO Gear in ROR should work like perks in COD, you have a bit of a leg up but the opponent should have a fighting chance.

My concern at the moment those already with annihilator gear can now farm resources. So if and when the next tier of gear comes out they could easily obtain it further increasing the power gap. Unless when new gear is realized the developers make to currency for new gear and make annihilator easier to get.

Imo. Gear is essential to play this game. The gap between. Green Renown Gear and BiS gear is WAY to high. Id personally would wanna see rewards shifted to cosmetics and renown only. Once you reach renown rank X You can go to any vendor and buy set X for gold. I would also not make any sets stronger in power lvl then t4 sets. But rather focus on different bonuses and stat priorities.
