<Login Timeout> I can't get into the game

-This happens when the server is down
-This happens when the server is laggy

Check the website first if the server is down or other people have this problem too. Server is online and I have read related threads.

Otherwise follow this:

download Hotspot Shield VPN: http://www.chip.de/downloads/Hotspot-Sh ... 00785.html I installed HSS 5.4.5, but still can't connect to server.

Then just start the game and it should work.

(Own risk)
Problem:
When I click the RoR Launcher icon and the Splash screen comes up, but the CONNECT button is greyed out, Web Server is Red, and Login Server is Yellow.

I haven't been able to log in since Sunday June 26th (a week ago). I have spent a week now reading and trying various suggestions, but nothing changes. I noticed after the server was patched (and DDoS attacks) that the Cloudflare "Checking your Browser before accessing" message is gone. This happens on all devices (checked on different PCs, phones, and tablets).

I've tried the following:
  1. Checked [OFFICIAL] Server Status Thread [Online]
  2. Read through COMMON ISSUES - READ OR DIE - YES THAT MEANS YOU
  3. Also read [TUTORIALS FOR BEGINNERS] (Launching, errors...)
  4. I haven't modified Login/Password
  5. Spammed the RoR Launcher icon
  6. Updated and ran Virus scans. Nothing found (no YAC Malware)
  7. Tried the suggested VPNs including Cyber Ghost 5
  8. Flushed DNS suggested by DaScoub
  9. Restarted Modem/Router and restarted pc
  10. Reinstalled WAR/RoR Launcher fully and incrementally.
  11. Installed on another pc (same as this with only OS installed)
  12. Rewrote mythicloginserviceconfig.xml
  13. Tried Performance Counter Rebuilder
  14. Reinstalled DirectX and restarted pc
  15. Ran these suggested commands and restarted pc
    Spoiler:

    Code: Select all

    netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
    netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
    netsh winsock reset catalog
    lodctr /e:PerfProc
    lodctr /r
My gaming experience:
  1. Running Windows XP SP3. I know it's dated, lol, but this pc came with it three years ago and it works fine. It still updates and runs the newest apps thanks to some work-arounds.
    Spoiler:

    Code: Select all

  2. I majored in Computer Engineering, though that was early 2000's. They say in IT you have to relearn everything every ten years; I've never known a truer statement lol!
  3. I've been playing RoR since 2014 when it was Rank 10/RR10. After leaving for a bit (old friends wanting to try SWG again) I came back again in 2015. This is my favorite MMO (especially since I played WHFB for years).
  4. I was a GM on various private servers and ran my own for fun (never again lmao). It was a great experience and gave great insight and new appreciation to the challenge of maintaining an MMO.
Various Suggestions:
xyeppp wrote:Keep restarting your launcher until the 'Connect' button will launch your game.
Tried that over the last few days to no avail.
Maximo wrote:i have fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
set ror.exe and war.exe to execute as admin
No luck either. Everything is running on admin and read only is off.
Elven wrote:Have you tried using a VPN? Check some security settings and make sure the computer allows access for RoR launcher and War.exe. If they are red/yellow, then something on the computer is stopping it from connecting to the server.
Tried a few VPNs and checked access on Exe. Also checked firewall settings.

TL;DR:

Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to show I thoroughly checked everything to the best of my ability. At this point it's a matter of pride to just be able to connect again. I understand fully that the server is still in alpha, I just want to be able to connect when other people do rather than watch the population go up and down. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Thank You

I have the same issue running the game on Linux via WINE, even though it worked fine before. There's a bunch of other people having this very same issue in the following threads:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15138
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15088
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15236

We've had some follow up on this through the forums and me personally on IRC yesterday, yet no solution has been found so far. The thing that irks me is that it has worked before but no longer does after a simple IP change.

I've noticed that the majority of people experiencing this issue seem to be running Windows XP. It does seem that the problem might be related to this in some way, though, which seems to be preventing the launcher from working or updating properly. An issue which also seem to happen in running the game on Linux via WINE (even though I tried simulating newer versions of Windows instead). I'll do some more testing later today when I have the time.

It may be a problem with the server protection from DDoS attacks? I played a few months, normally on windows xp. A week ago, after yet another DDoS attack web button burning red and yellow login constant, no matter what I did.

Yes I agree 100%. In fact I was going to quote your comments on the other threads as they seem to be spot on (but I forgot lol).

I think you're right. Something changed during the week (Cloudflare?) which seems to prevent at least XP users from connecting.

June 26th: Game works fine (I'm running XP too)
June 27th: "patch while the servers were dead."
June 28-30th?: Server unstable and DDoS attacks happen. Cloudflare "Checking your Browser before accessing" message is gone (for me at least).
July 1st: I started devoting my four day weekend to trouble-shooting instead of PvDoor (prefer the latter).
July 5th: Still unable to connect, though my pc is running better than ever. :)

I know this may sound silly, but have you tried redownloading both the game and the launcher?

I downloaded 100 times the launcher . The problem is that the game server breaks the connection (probably protection program says that I do DDoS attack )

I saw you flushed DNS, but have you tried these commands as well,

Be sure to run from an Admin CMD window

netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
