New to Warhammer Online - 2 questions about char development

First off, thank you so much for developing this server - I never played the original game and now I get to play for free and everything basically just works :))

I listened to a dev diary on youtube and it sounds like a really impressive engineering effort too!

Anyway, I started playing this past weekend and I just wanted to make sure that I've understood the character build mechanics correctly:
- basically stats and class abilities level up automatically, no need to make any decisions (don't really understand why I can train class abilities at skill trainers since I seem to just get those abilities anyway)
- I use reknown points to buy reknown abilities
- I use mastery points to buy mastery abilities
- later on I'll get some morale abilities which I can choose
- later on I'll get to choose from amongst several tactics
- optionally I can pick trade skills: one (or more?) crafting and one (or more?) gathering simply by talking to certain NPCs

So a build is basically an assignment of reknown and mastery points and a selection of morales and tactics, did I miss anything?

Secondly, it seems that all of these (reknown abilities, mastery abilities, morales, tactics) are re-assignable at low or no cost, so I don't have to worry about making poor decisions right now, is that true?

cheers and thank you!

Oi. Aswering to First - yes, build is combination of renown, masteries and star specialization of your choosing. Renown is mostly used for flat stat increase while each mastery point put in certain mastery tree upgreades skills bound to that tree. Secondly after reaching certain levels in tree you can put another mastery point to unlock tree Special skill Or tactic. Visit warbuilder.com to seeall of the options.

As for crafting you can have one gathering and one crafting profession, simmilar to WoW.

Fell free to ask if you need any more explainations.

Currently, you have to pay gold to respec your mastery skills and pay no gold to respec the reknown points that you have spent. Not sure if it will always be this way in the future though.

Welcome to war, as others said you pretty much got the gist of MMO's in general now. Stats are gained from Buffs, Gear, Tactics and Renown abilities.

This game separate Battlefields by "Tier" 1-4. Right now you at lvl 1-11 Tier 1, and is a very active area lol. Respeccing the Mastery Builds cost some Coin, which I don't recall how much at low lvls though.

What class are you playing?

The career trainers aren't pointless though: you can check what abilities/morale/tactics your character will get and at what rank. Just turn off the "hide unavailable abilities".

oh you can ask around in game in he /advice channel too to see what people think is a good "mastery" build while levling. some classes are better or more Fun, with one spec vs another, and then MUCH better at another at the end of the game (level 40 etc)

I just dont know Engineer very well to comment =)
