Which is why attacking a keep needs to be MASSIVELY more profitable than defending.
Quite often people already flock to defending due to a much higher chance at AAO. You rarely will ever see AAO for the offense, thats suicide.
So it seems to me, AAO IS the "defensive" reward...
Im not complaining at this, just a mere observation, it seems to me that tier 3 pvp was much more active/fun than what we have now. I am not quite sure what to attribute to that, but when I think back to all the countless hours I spent in High Pass, I have A LOT of fun (on both sides!) in that + Talabec... Both defending and offense on both keeps!
In tier 4, its almost like there are too many keeps to attack, so its spread out too much. Then when you do get to a keep, ranged DPS has a field day with keeping people at bay from attacking the doors (I recall not being able to hit the melee hitting the door on my BW on defense?) Even if you DO get the door down, AoE ranged nuke the small door you have to fit through and defense just has such a massive upper hand....
Then people get sick of not doing anything after 30 minutes, Xrealm to defense for the D-tick and then zerg rush the remaining offense.
Just brainstorming a few suggestions:
1) Increase the amount of damage/kills required to get D-ticks.
2) Is it possible to also provide like "half-credit" to the offensive team based on how low they get doors? Kinda like how in SCs if you get 300 points but lose to the enemy who got 500, you still get half the emblems? This might give cause to stay on your initial side?
3) Maybe im just in bad WBs but it seems like melee get such a short end of the stick in RvR. On defense you do nothing and on offense you bum rush a door and get nuked by ranged AoE... I dont know the solution there frankly...
