BO's are very poor in block and parry ,however have a couple armor buff abilities and Da greenest bellow that would allow BO's to be more tankier . To bad they don't stack with one another ,nor does the armor pot .
Armor buffs should stack to compensate for lack of block and parry BO has.

and there lies the screw up as i stated earlier in this thread, not every tank that is 2H is not guarding , hell my chosen when I am 2 H still has over 50 % parry, 750 toughness and over 7500 wounds, fully capable of guarding someone and hes only 36 in crap gear.

Just because you see a tank with a 2 H you auto assume they are not guarding anyone, are dps tanked and have low toughness and wounds, def etc, and see them as a liability, which isn`t always true.

there are a few 2 handed tanks that have capacity to guard fairly well and do so. but the majority of 2 handed tanks are mostly trying to do dps. they have specc and gear for dps so even if they try to guard it dont work well.

So when seeign a 2 handed tank it is logiccal to asume he is a dps that wont guard or are not capable of doing so. Atleast untill he proven that he do. or if you know him so you do know he is capable of doing a good job

sadly the few that are good tanks but run with 2 handers have this against them. simply because the majority of 2 handed tanks are just a dps with low damage

Yes but to be effective as a 2 handed tank you should have a group. That know you are capable and not just another dps wannabe. otherwise in a pug for an example you can be overlooked and become low priority for the healers.

But if done right and with a skilled player and a group behind it can be nice. and kinda surprice the oponents.

And for offensive SnB tanks that is if you ask me a great thing. i actually prefere that over SnB tanks that focus too much on defence so they basicly only can guard and bring buffs/debuffs and some cc.

I don't have full merc yet (3 piece), so I'm using 3 piece ruin for armor and toughness and 2 piece mercenary.

Stats are roughly 4800 armor (more if I'm running da greenest), 650-ish toughness, 7800 wounds and 600-ish strength - so a healthy mix of offense and defense.
Even without the crit dmg tactic, I feel that this is a good spec for 2h if you want to be able to tank and assist someone. Melee trains aren't a problem at all.

Only problem I've faced are good BWs.

I'm running a similar spec (mostly with shield). However, I sometime like to switch either for fun or just because we lack DPS.

I checked at the stats you mentioned ... and in most case I'm quite far from these. Are these stats unbuffed ?

I am full Mercenary (talisman are full Thoughness) and run the following stats (unbuffed/no potion):
Armor: 3000
Parry : 30%
Str : 450
Thoughness : 650
Wounds : 7800

I'd be really interested to know how you can go that high in stats

3 piece ruin gives armor and toughness on set bonus
2 piece mercenary gives str on set bonus
full parry, rd1 rest in str in renown.
the 2-3 set bonus from the tome unlock jewelry gives armor aswell and very high corp resist wich helps vs bright wizards.
On my BO i use 1-2 toughness talis i think and rest str talis.

Does that mean that it is prefered to go 3 pieces Ruin / 2 pieces Merc ? (instead of full merc ?)
