Advertise XRealming Feature of RoR

I think this server should blatantly advertise that xrealming is tolerated and encouraged on this server. This way, those that disagree with the practice can consider their participation in RoR from this informed position. Investing time into characters and community while also imposing non-xrealming rhetoric on others could thereby be eliminated, or at least, deterred. This would cut down on /teir chat that crops up where debates about it are exchanged as if the arguments presented are considered voices in policy creation.

No timers on switching accounts has established the unspoken policy that xrealming is permitted. Certainly I am not suggesting that a timer would discourage the practice. I am only stating that permitting instant switching is indicative of an approving posture that incentivizes the playstyle.

One of the biggest problems that I have seen is that there are a lot of people that do not like xrealming and believe that there is someone out there that will eventually institute policies that bias towards a non-xrealming server. This is evidenced by the underlying hope you can sense in the statements, points, and energy put forth in their debates. A false hope. One that needs exposed as such. If xrealming is permitted and encouraged, then by all means own it. State it. Let it be known. Permit these people that are energized by idealism to squander their hope elsewhere. Extinguish their fiery drive outwardly; instead of using unspoken, but real, policies.

I recently left a guild that began xrealming. Good folks—really good. I’ll miss them. Initially, a guild that chose not to xrealm. I suppose they were bored. Does not matter, really. However, I prefer a guild, group, and community that sticks to one realm. I have read many of the debating posts about the subject on Dark Age forums, free-shards, as well as here on RoR. Years of good points presented by both sides. But, I did choose a side.

I would have skipped RoR all together. I don’t wish to impose my personal preference on anyone. I am leaving the server, my 40s, and my experiences here behind. Not because of my recent guild adjustment, but because of the debates that have played out in chat channels where this unspoken policy has yet to become a revelation to so many. Many of whom are farmed by subversive xrealming that are empowered by policy. I know most will say “don’t let the door hit you in the back.” Thank you for the concern, I won’t. I do think, however, that RoR should put on the advertising and marketing information about this server that it biases toward policies that encourage xrealming. Boldly state on the banners of the website that RoR features an xealming environment. To do otherwise is a lie of omission.

That said. Thank you for the server. It was a lot of fun and I can’t begin to imagine the massive time investments made to recreate this fantastic game. Everyone has benefited by the amazing group of folks that work hard in supporting this effort. Please consider being very candid about this important topic in your marketing.

Where have you seen that xrealming is encouraged? I believe the devs position is that they currently cannot do anything about it because they don't have access to the client-side code.

Xrealming isn't even close to as big of an issue as you make it out to be. Have fun playing all those other RvR-based MMOs out there.

Shortly: NO.

We do not advocate nor encourage cross realming practices. It is an extreme thorn in our side especially since we're unable to tackle it properly. Any heavy measure we could use to bring back realm pride and destroy every potential for cross realming would do us more harm than good. This does not mean we're going to take on a policy in which we state you're free to swap as you see fit. We won't sanction it despite the fact it may ruin the entire game's oRvR system if not properly rewarding for the underdog side or if it allows for a certain cross realm exploitation. Overal, there is a benefit to cross realming; it allows for increased gameplay potential and understanding every class, making you a better player. We still believe the negatives of being able to change the tide of WAR for selfish acts such as keep swapping and end-game gear grinding are a complete sin, and a potentially destructive force towards the game's central RvR mechanic. Ergo, we will NEVER admit to it being 'okay' to do. There is a reason we do not support cross-faction mailing or currency trades. The latter is however tolerated due to the fact it may push the xrealmers underground, making it increasingly difficult to see how severe the issue actually is.

Cross realming will die as soon as people learn how to not take the path of least resistance. Sadly, the majority of players conform themselves to such a way of playing, as it is simple human nature. We can only change that by changing the game, for the better, as we are still trying to do in the game's alpha state.

As this is coming from a staff member who states in his signature he plays on both sides, it may seem hypocritical. However, on an individual level, all staff member sshould know how to relate to both sides, be it through knowing individual class imbalance or overal realm imbalance. If cross realming happens on a wide scale due to being on the losing side, there is quite honestly no reason to play. No enemy, no RvR.

Warhamer was made to be a strategic game... When u allow the enemie see u movements, all strategic are gone...
It was one of the fun parts of this game, what i miss here.
Yesterday i scout a keep... all zone was empty, even WC. after say it on /T4, a small group of players come to keep, rushing to oil even before our ppl move... Lame tactics like crash a WB exploting the que bug just when doors are down... but looks is the only way some ppl can win

Every time I see an XRealming post I say and will say the same thing.

When the game was live I primarily played Order. Wound up with four 100rr toons leveled up before they ever announced shut down and started the auto ranking to 100.
I was happy playing order, loved it, and still do. I did the story line quests on all my toons and ranked them in rvr at same time.
A year before shut down, I started playing destro toons a bit. I got one toon to 100. And did the story line quests on one toon only.

Here is the thing. When the game shut down, I was sad that I only experienced HALF the game.

So here we are, RoR is up and running. So here I have a second chance to experience the ENTIRE game. I am not going to pass it up. I will play both realms, I will rank in rvr and do the story lines, I will enjoy and love every single minute!
It is a second chance folks. Enjoy the WHOLE game!

Xrealming is a well known issue, problem is there are far greater ones to address currently. I mean we see these threads constantly, yet there is no good suggestions. What do you expect? Lock account creation amount such as servers like nostalrius? - easily worked around with IP. IP lock account ammount? - A lot of people here play with siblings/partners/roommates so you just shaft them. It's hard to find a decent solution to such a problem since this is a private server, no sub payment.

Also if you play long enough here, you will find familiar faces within the RvR lakes as many of us do enjoy to stick to the one faction, by this point I know almost all of the destro that keep to my faction as much as they can, and are always prominant in the lakes.

Xrealming is not encouraged in any way, to say that it is, well its just a flat out lie and short sighted statement really. Not much more to say, we know its an issue, but currently there are far greater issues to address.

It's a combo "I'm quitting/x-realmers!!11!11!!" whine post.

We don't appreciate either of these, so locking to let it die a slow painful death in the depths of the forum. Let it be buried and forgotten.
