May give server a shot, is class balance as it was?

A friend and I are considering starting on RoR and we were wondering if the class balance is the same as it was on the live client or if there were RoR specific changes to class balance? I specifically remember certain classes being overpowered before I stopped playing the original game, namely bright wizards. Are they like they were back then? I don't know if they eventually got any nerfs on live, I didn't stick around the entire time. Thanks.
