Draw distance

Am I imagining things are is the draw distance (at max video draw distance setting) a lot shorter than on live? Maybe I am, or a decision has been taken from a performance point of view?

Aren't graphic options clientside?
"I came, I saw, I ran away"

"My RvR experience improved by 100% after I spent 50 renown points in Improved Flee and Cleansing Wind!"

Will it ever be possible for the devs to increase the draw distance? Thats the one thing that could really improve how this game looks.

I always get said in places like TM where the mountain is just a grey blob in the backround with no detail or all the cool buildings in reikland off to the distance.

Even if the client could be modified some day to allow for this, it should be only done for the landscape. Otherwise players with better hardware will get an unfair advantage in RvR over players with older hardware.

To be fair, this was always the case. I distinctly remember having to kick players from dungeon groups because their graphics settings were too low to render boss AoE attacks. We'd wipe because the healer was playing on an 8080 and could see the puddle he was standing in

I know games like fallout/TES usually have separate options for draw distance of objects, NPCs, landscape, effects, etc...

Isn't this game technically on the same engine as those games? Or does that matter?

I just meant that someone can stand on a BO and see if the enemy guards the side entries of the keep, or how many defenders are on the walls. I just don't think the RvR areas are big enough for this.

Or if players just stand on a PvE mountain and can overlook the whole RvR area with all enemy movement. Two weeks later someone develops a "binocular addon".

I noticed it too. I clearly remember when sitting at destro splash cannon in t1 you could see players at the edge of opposite hill. And now sometimes if the wind is pointing towards your target, you don`t see "boom".
