No option to create a character

I just installed the game and I load it. I get to the main screen and hear the music and see the background but I have no option to make a character. to the right of the screen is an empty square box. Not sure what is going on. Server is up but I don't have the option to make a character.

Do you mean you downloaded the copy from our site? Is it version 1.4.8?

Yes it is version 1.4.8 and I put the launcher in the main folder. The game loads up and I get to the screen but I have no option to make a character.

I do get an error (though I think many get it) saying 'cannot load counter name data' but the game still loads.

OK, run this program as administrator and try logging in again.

Unzip it anywhere. It's a batch command that rebuilds performance counters automatically.
