How is armor calculated when under bolster? In the paperdoll before when being overbolstered I have seen very high physical damage mitigation... to the point the armor was orange/softcapped. But as the paperdoll is inaccurate I'm wondering if thats the actual value.
I know as level increases the physical damage reduction provided by a set armor value decreases, but I have no idea how bolster's 'level increase' factors into this. Do you lose physical damage reduction when bolstered, does it stay the same?

Re: Armor calculations and bolster
I think it just displays wrongs.
You get the bolster and character sheet don't understand that you get bolstered and thinks you're still the unbolstered lvl. I think it transfers correctly in practise.

Re: Armor calculations and bolster
The bolster maintains the percentage mitigated value. For example, my level 13 dok has 404 armor which provides 28.3% mitigation at level 13. When it enters tier 2 rvr, the bolster to level 28 provides it with an armor value of 836, which still provides 28.3% of mitigation.
The misleading part of bolster is the percentage mitigation value shown on the paper doll. The value shown on the paper doll uses the bolstered armor value but calculates the mitigation percentage as if the toon is its original level. Using the lvl 13 dok as an example, the percentage mitigation value shown on the paper doll is calculated using the bolstered armor value of 836 but it applies it to a level 13 toon. At lvel 13, each 14.3 points of armor provides 1% of mitigation. So the 836 points of armor would give 836/14.3 = 58.5% of mitigation. This is the value that appears on the paper doll. But the reality is that the 836 points of armor is providing only 28.3% mitigation, the value for a level 28 toon.

Its still virtually unkillable in tier 1 scens.roadkillrobin wrote:Seems rather low on a DoK, think you need to upgrade your gear
Many people who powerlevelled toons during the ekrund live event in the final year of the live game developed some fairly relaxed views about gear requirements on lower level toons. It wasn't unusual to see level 40 toons running around tier 4 rvr while still in starting area gear during those weeks. You learned that once you reached tier 4, you could level your rr from 0 to 50 very quickly. And it didn't take much longer to reach rr70 and worn sovereign gear. You learned not to take pvp seriously until then.

And that's a sad lesson. Pretty much a low tier killer.
