Unable to create character on windows 10

Hey guys,

I got everything installed, and the game launches just fine, but when I go to create my character and get the background image with banner poles and torches moving as normal, but no races to select and start. Anybody had this happen yet? I have already unchecked the read only for my war folder and set both the launcher and war.exe to run as admin. Set the compatibility mode to run as windows 7 and tried rebuilding my performance counters from a thread 2 weeks ago and still not getting in to create my characters.

Hey! The game runs perfectly on my Computer: But my Girlfriend runs into a similar issue: Only instead of the racial creation screen, she gets to the main screen where her characters should stand there and wait to be the character selected for play: And instead, is greeted with empty steps. Down where the 'server' is, it never really shows her ever on a serve, but when I connect I get the good ol' base server to appear there.

Bumping this cause I looked through the common issues section and couldn't find anything, nor in any of the other parts of the tech section.

just asking: do you have connection to the server? it seems to me that somth is blocking the connection and thats the reason why it doesnt load correctly.

The first initial loading of the game can take some time to render the models. If you are indeed connected to the game server, let it attempt to load the character models for up to a minute. If it doesn't work, try downloading the game again.

Is there a good way to check if i'm connected, when I double click on the server name, it does go through logging into the game server so i expect to be connected but I could be wrong. I can try re downloading the game. Both times I let the game sit on that screen for about 15 minutes just in case it was a texture loading issue.

can you see the small black window where it says "Connecting", "handshaking" and so on?
If it appears you are connected to the server and something else is the problem.
Could be that some files are missing or broken, maybe a re-extract will fix it.
is you folder read only?

yeah i always click on the server hit connect, it goes through connecting to the server and then brings me to the race select screen that then never loads. Its not set to read only, so I think i'll try a new extraction/download.

Just wanted to let everyone know that it appears as though the full download seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks for all your help!
