So, the last 4-5 nights, I've been farming for a cape/cloak for my shaman 'Mazer'.
I have grinded for well over 10 hours now, for 1 single piece of equipment, mobs after mobs.. I was just wondering, is there any way you can raise the percentage of the drop rate on capes, because me spending 2-4 hours a night farming and not getting anything... Is really frustrating...

Shaman have had it too easy long enough, and they must be made to suffer, somehow.

THUMP - "MEDIOCRE!!" ...Who's laughing now?

It's pure luck. Some days I get nothing, some days I get 3 drops in one pull. No cape though, yet.

I'm afraid the devs care little about armor drop rates. I tried to speak to one about evening out the droprates with Order's droprates, but there was no way they'd pull them up a bit.
However, a few spawns that may help you are... Nordland Hunthound, Lord Steward Geinhart, Horrified Souls and Lost Souls.

Re: -Farming for a Cape/Cloak-
There are a number of problems which make farming completely uneconomical with respect to time:
- Since I joined, the various AoE bugs were fixed (most critically, the Ironbreaker's), the double Strength contribution was fixed and I've read that mobs will have Toughness next patch.
- Old issues inherent in the original WAR are present - namely that gear for Choppa, Slayer, Blackguard and KotBS doesn't drop in certain places.
- Drops and level have no correlation whatsoever.
- Mobs have different drop lists, so you don't even know if any particular mob even drops the piece you want without checking the development server.
- The drop rate for most pieces of gear is 0.01%. If we assume that a player kills a mob every 15 seconds, that means that on average, 15 * 10000 = 200000s = 41 hours are required to farm any given piece of gear. If we restrict this to usable drops, assuming that a mob drops helm, shoulders, body, gloves, belt, boots and weapon for a given character, we turn up 7 straight hours of farming for a usable drop.
What would I suggest as a quick adjustment if anything were to be done? Temporarily multiply the drop rate by 4 if the base drop chance of an item is below a certain amount. It's about what Ironbreakers and Black Orcs could manage before, and nobody complained that gear was too easy to get. Plus, it means that the underlying tables are the same as 1.4.8, and the adjustment can easily be removed when supply from other sources (PQ, PvP, etc) is fixed.

I second the idea of upping the drop rate temporarily!

Re: -Farming for a Cape/Cloak-
I always hear Order drop rates are better and I am intrigued: Is there any place to look at the drop rates and loot tables? Is there a grinding guide ala "Kill X on map Y for Z gear"? Or is this all just conjecture?

It's a mixture of exploration, habitation and entering mob names into the Wartool to check for their loot and droprates.eisenhans wrote:I always hear Order drop rates are better and I am intrigued: Is there any place to look at the drop rates and loot tables?
