Granted this is a chosen, and 40 rr 80 after all the nerfs etc. but not to bad for a tank.

Yup... But look at the difference between Chose and Knight, they get to deal spirit damage while we deal regular damage....DirkDaring wrote:Granted this is a chosen, and 40 rr 80 after all the nerfs etc. but not to bad for a tank.

What if mighty soul applied to more attacks/abilities but only if you used a 2H ?

This is 2016. Why do the devs allow the magus to continue to be overpowered?

Re: [Knight of the Blazing Sun] Tactics, Builds, Strategies
This was actually something I thought of as well. If Mighty Sole was moved into the Path of Conquest and replaced "Efficient Swings" and then naturally would make all Conquest abilities Elemental. Would be much better than Efficient Swings, thats forsure.TenTonHammer wrote:What if mighty soul applied to more attacks/abilities but only if you used a 2H ?
I know Az is currently looking at ways to "address the KOTBS" as they are relatively easy for tank spec and provide crazy benefits.
So a few changes that could be considered:
Tactics:
1) Encouraged Aim move up the path to replace Efficient Swings.
2) Dirty Tricks moved up and replace "Laurels of Victory".
3) Efficient Swings possibly replaced with an "Great Weapon Mastery" (See Black Orc and SM, or IB).
Auras (need a rework) as they are claimed to be too easy (same with Chosen btw):
Proposal: Upon activation, the aura provides ~ 25% more stats/effect than it does now, after X seconds (maybe 10?) the benefit it reduced by 50% (of the new amount).
So to give an example, if Press the Attack debuffs/buffs Strength by 75, it would now be 100 for 10 seconds, then drop to ~50 as a permanent buff/debuff. This allows for more "active" useage of the auras but not bring the class back to "twisting" that was required.
It would be nice if you get the increased benefit of the aura, however, you could just click it again to re-cast it for the 10 second benefit. So there could be some re-work there where the way to remove auras would be to cast a 4th (removing the 3rd) or click the buff icon itself to remove the aura. Casting the aura should eat up the world cooldown but I dont think they should have a CD on the ability itself.
I would hate to go back to "twisting" and I dont honestly see another way of modifying auras to require a little more "management" without over nerfing them.
This would actually give some unique advantages to auras like: Now's our Chance, in that it could provide a 35% heal debuff for 10 seconds then drop to say 15-20% as the base.

Re: [Knight of the Blazing Sun] Tactics, Builds, Strategies
Thinking more about this, what if all auras (Knight/Chosen) just had their range reduced to 50-75 feet instead of 100? Same with the Dirty Tricks tactic.
That wouldnt address the "ease" but would now require more situational awareness for buffs to apply to allies.
I am still a BIG advocate of Knight needing a "Great Weapon Mastery" tactic to provide more damage with a 2h (lacking atm)
Also, the capstone is REALLY sub-par compared to other classes. Reduces chance to defend by 10% for 10 seconds? While you compare to Chosen's Rending Blade (High Un-defendable Spirit Damage) or say SM's Ether Dance (5 hits 190 Spirit Damage) or Crimson Death (HIGH damage AoE + crit)
Just seems like there is some room for improvement here...
It just seems ODD to me that the mirror class (chosen) has BUILT INTO their encounter that it cannot be defended, our encounter just makes it so all our other encounters are harder to defend...... Not even "impossible" but just 10% harder....
What would make sense to me?
Staggering Impact swaps "tool tips" AND animations with "Heaven's Fury". Now Staggering impact would make someone.... Stagger.... And Heaven's Fury (the utility/support tree) provides the buff to the party and deals the DoT...
So maybe it would look like this:
"Staggering Impact: Deals 215 damage to all enemies 40 feet in front of you, Everyone hit will be staggered for 3 seconds." 20 second CD.
Now its a decent damage ability AND utility.... Worthy of a "capstone" encounter and NOW it actually makes that Path of Glory a little interesting in some of its party utility.

A.... a 10% chance to reduce chance to defend attacks.....is acctully a significant and real inc in damage for your not only your grp but your entire sc party or WB dont remeber the math but i know penril once did the math for it cause i once suggest something similar for BG's blade of ruin

Well a few points to this.TenTonHammer wrote:A.... a 10% chance to reduce chance to defend attacks.....is acctully a significant and real inc in damage for your not only your grp but your entire sc party or WB dont remeber the math but i know penril once did the math for it cause i once suggest something similar for BG's blade of ruin
1) If you are behind them, they cannot block.
2) If you are attacking a caster (anyone without a shield) then they cannot block. While it includes Parry most casters dont stack parry AND I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that Weapon Skill is the offensive "check" against Parry, and via Runefang you can easily get upwards of 450 Weapon Skill meaning their chance to parry is slim to non even if stacking it.
3) Attacking a tank first is a POOR thing to do with healers/casters in the back. So throwing this down on a tank for the purpose of mitigating some block % may be a "DPS boost" for the group, but who is/should be focused on the tank? Even with 10% less block/parry/dodge etc its STILL not going to be the guy you target first NOR kill in a real game.
Blade of Ruin - is a DoT and a "tier 1" encounter.
I mean dont get me wrong, I am not saying its completely worthless (like Myrmidia's Fury) however its nowhere near the value (IMO) of other classes capstones... If the Knight is to be addressed (which is seems Az wants to do come T4) then I have a suspicion his "group benefits" are going to either be harder to maintain OR nerfed in some form. Which will end up putting the Knight in a bad spot IMO. ESPECIALLY if they nerf the "buff tank" 20% crit spec for Knights.
I guess its almost like Runefang giving 210 STR/210WS (@ 35) removes some of the need to reduce block % / PArry % since those stats reduce the chance to do those things anways...
Id rather just have an unblockable attack (Chosen) or a fatty AoE damage + debuff (BG) or a nice Channel for Burst (SM/BO).
You have to remember, tanks are not speccing this far into the tree as you cannot get 20% team crit buff yet. Even @ 40 itll still be better to get Focused Mending instead. So I guess, isnt it clear something needs to change if the "Best Knight Build" involves not getting any capstones and doing Mastery JUST to get 3 tactics LOL?!

defending attacks is not just block and parry it is also dodge and disrupt which stacks with other factors like pierce defenses

Re: [Knight of the Blazing Sun] Tactics, Builds, Strategies
I'm new to the game and I've some doubts about the build I should use.
I play a little bit of everything (sword and shield) - sometimes RvR, sometimes solo-scenario, sometimes group-scenario.
Which of this two builds is better? Is there are some better builds?

Also, I don't really know where to put my renown points cause there are a lot of things who seem useful to me.
Thanks in advance.
