Op doesnt seem to realise this game was designed as a pvp game from day one, pve was also worked on just to try n get a share of the wow player base

Whoa. Abnett is clearly better than Kyme! I like the questing experience and such, but I'm a fully admitted Warhammer nerd. I love the stuff, and have done so since I was a little kid. Someone who doesn't like it as much would not like the PvE as much, I suspect. And the PvP is way more fun IMO, and still pretty Warhammery.
But the PvE can be a nice break from scenarios and orvr, every once and a while.

I never had a problem with people who only did pve. There is so much of it that its just laughable to hear people think the pve parts of the game were merely put in as an afterthought.
The only problem with pve was certain items (mostly lotd stuff, but also lv stuff early on) that were only obtainable in pve that gave significant advantages compared to pvp gear. But thats been fixed, so who cares if theres pve.

Re: Why the PvE hate?
Myes, which is why EA is to blame for not making PvE worthwhile enough from the get-go. They scrapped two major cities that were anticipated at release (K8P and K-A-K) and couldn't fully intergrate the PvE experience that dominated the T1 areas into the T4, in which PvE became a serious grudge to most. According to the original game design that blends the PvE into PvP, it was supposed to be 80% PvE and only 20% PvP in T1, which would then in turn gradually change up into T4, where it'd be 80% PvP focused and 20% PvE focused. Over the years the community seems to have taken on a consensus of a 99% PvP focused game, since Mythic failed to live up with making the PvE as viable as it should've been, granted they would've gotten at least another year of development from the greedy EA CEOs.Gorwe wrote:The whole game was rushed and shoehorned lol!
I could quote Paracelsus again, but I won't. I swear it, that guy said the ultimate truth when it comes to all aspects of life, let alone apothecary / medical things.
Currently it is also a bitch and a half to fix the PvE aspects in the game, especially considering it's 2016 and this game's PvE is still based on that of 2008. We cannot revamp an entire PvE system as it exists in the game, we can only attempt to fix the major parts of it and see if people are okay enough with that. Current work on the PQs has made me wonder, "will anyone actually ever come here and do this PQ?".

Re: Why the PvE hate?
Wrong wrong wrong. PvE was always designed to fit into this game alongside and even blended in with the PvP. Simply because it didn't work in the long run due to a rushed game release and people never saw the upside to the PvE when the PvP was obviously where all the fun and good gear was at, doesn't mean this game was completely PvP centered from the start. We wouldn't have seen ANY PvE then, while there is TONS of it, especially in the lower tiers.greenstoned wrote:Op doesnt seem to realise this game was designed as a pvp game from day one, pve was also worked on just to try n get a share of the wow player base
It's dull, painstakingly boring and even considered to be sinful by some on this community to indulge in PvE/RP. It's also dull and painstakingly boring to fix the PvE, knowing that only 20% of the community will truly care about PQs and dungeons. Yet we will neither completely abandon OR overhaul WAR's PvE system, since it simply continues to work despite all that it is lacking. We can only improve on that. And that's not to say that focus will be deterred from PvP; on the contrary. Getting the PQs fixed and figured out will actually result in keep capture rewards and city sieges in the long run.

Re: Why the PvE hate?
Thank you Ryan. Idk where some ppl get this info from that the game was made primarily pvp. It wasn't. I was there from beta and know pvp and pve where side by side. Since early patch notes and updates. I enjoy the pvp from war but also enjoyed the pve. It was great having somthing to do when rvr was dead or to take a break. I also remember being more involved in guilds and making more guilds active in the sense of making 6 man groups for pve and setting up weekly raids and so on. I am sure the same thing will happen here. I am sure it's more then 20% of the population that would enjoy and welcome some pve as long as they are not as bugged as in live.
to be honest I think the crybabys that could never become good enough to beat doungens or find good groups are the ones that started complaining and saying that this game is pure pvp so that they can get all the gear just by riding the Zerg train across all relms. (Not all but there's a lot of them)

But, have a look on Arena in IC, those guys farming 24/7 for a week now, they are farming purple lvl35 weapons, current gear meta, I guess.

Re: Why the PvE hate?
I actually really like PQs and would totally do them. Especially the ones where Order and Destruction would compete (I remember at least one, in Dwarf/Orc, T1 or t2, can't remember). Those were hilarious and fun and another way to PvP that was organic. I've actually been able to gank a few Order on my Chosen who were questing, which is always fun. Particularly since they really must have not expected to see a Chosen just wandering around their PvE zones :p

Re: Why the PvE hate?
People will do PQs once PQ gear sets drop. People will do dungeons when they can get Dungeon Gear. People do Consignment quests for Stalker gear. Best way to make PvE relevant is to have enticing rewards...I don't think PvE gear should be better, but people tend to do it because it's a quick fix to your gear set up.
Once you have the carrot to go after, it's much easier to get involved in the pve elements to make the experience more enjoyable. (story as an example)
