Altdorf in PvE terms has only one opportunity: the four Pale Eye bandits in the east. However, better gear farming spots in Mount Bloodhorn make it obsolete.

The drop rate for most pieces of gear is between 1 in 2,000 and 1 in 10,000.

It's funny, the first time I pop to Altdorf to start grinding those bandits, I seem to get three drops in the first ten kills, and then see nothing for four levels... but it's always in those first few kills.
