There was a new post bout new changes to the punishment for something called 'botting'... However the post did not explain what 'botting' is. So if someone could please explain the meaning of this term 'botting'.. Thanks.

On the upshot, if you don't know what botting even is, odds are you aren't a botter.

Any sort of separate program that plays the game without your presence being needed. Even then, it can be expanded to even simpler stuff.

Why a new thread when the answer is found on the first two hits by typing "botting" into the google search engine?

If you are a Kobs, or anyone else with thornshield. Then, turning them on and walking away while, say for instance, AFK killing squigs.

Essentially achieving something while giving 0 input to you char.

This isn't botting.

Botting is when you use third party software that uses preconfigured instructions to execute by the character in given situations.

What this means precisely is you (automatically) run till you meet enemy > when meet enemy attack with X > when low on hp do Y > when bags full go to city and sell items of quality lower than Z. Of course everything that without any effort on your side, you can start a bot and go to sleep as they do not require much attention from you (if they are good).

Using some skill that gives you thorn dmg and going afk isn't botting, it's the legitimate action as what you are using are precisely game mechanics. Botting programs automate how your character behaves without you touching the keyboard.

That's a 3rd party bot.
Avoiding log out timers while you are asleep to get kills is still botting in the lowest most basic form.

But we don't need to agree. It's ultimately not down to us peasants to decide what botting is on this server.

I was banned from one game once due to someone botting not far from where I live. Hopefully this would never happen here ;)

vove's definition is correct.

Being able to thorn pot / OYG! down mobs is **** game design, not botting.
