Of course I use strafe, who doesn't? but what is it about it that makes it a cheat??
When I do it it doesn't seem to cause the enemy to not be able to hit me or kill me etc. so i dont understand.
It's a bit of an ivory-tower thing. If we had control over the client, I would just push to have A and D mapped to strafe by default for all new characters.
Where they gone? And really?!

On my melee I counter bunny-hop escape by bunny-hopping in pursuit. It gives you FAT MATRIX SKILLS as well. I don't play a ton of melee but does anyone else do this?

If we had control over the client, I would just push to have A and D mapped to strafe by default for all new characters.I actually have a really crazy mouse/keyboard setup, I use only AWD to move(A+D are strafe left strafe right) W is forward S was bound for backwards but I don't like this, my skill keys are QERFVCXZ2345 and Alt2345QE, my mouse is for auto-walk mainly
That reminds me of the setup of abilities from Neverwinter, was a good key setup indeed.
Yah I just attribute lag, im in NA so I tend to think ahead of my target, and plan that they are further ahead than I am seeing. thanks to this, I never seem to have issues with being able to hit my target, as a Melee DPS that is.
I don't think i like the idea of this guy just chalking everything up to people being scrubs, not really the right way to conduct this discussion lol

Re: Where they gone? And really?!
In DAoC you would miss with your own styles if you strafed too much.
Good times.
Mind you, there was no player collision, people would try to abuse LoS and facing restrictions by strafing/running through you, in circles or whatever they deemed fit.

I try to be a little honorable i gues, when i'm solo which isn't all that often. I won't bow and curtsey and then wait for you to engange and then bow again and ... No i'll just engage when i feel like it.
Any pure 1 on 1 i leave alone, all the rest is go time!

Re: Where they gone? And really?!
Melees have plenty tools to stay or get into melee range.
When you pop out of stealth and fail to kill the target quickly, then you have to die, period.
The ranged snare is no 1on1 tool, it is properly used against fleeing targets who can't defend both sides to avoid the snare. Ganking doesn't mean that you solo the target. Group up with another stealth class.
Jumping is vital for kiting in general, because circle strafing continuously reduces the distance to your target and you often have to change your direction.
On live there was no noticeable advantage like the lag jumping mentioned here. If it is fixable, I am sure it will be fixed and if not, then jump as well.

Wait a sec here, so you want me to group with other stealthers to be effective? Silly.Sulorie wrote:Melees have plenty tools to stay or get into melee range.

The ranged snare IS a 1v1 tool though, I've used it probably twice while in scenario groups. Can you list all the "Melees have plenty tools to stay or get into melee range." Wouldn't mind knowing what you mean by this?
