That is not impossible if you mix and match set pieces, spec renown, and use a few WS tali's.

But the thing to think about is this.

let's say your hitting a dok / mara / dps tank. At what point is it better to use firebomb, then it is to use gunblast / snipe? A lot of people overlook firebomb, but in the time it takes you to do 1 snipe you can use 3 firebombs with 1-2 autoattacks. Maybe more if your close enough and running expert skirmisher.

If you focus on crit / bs your non physical dots and non physical abilities do much better damage, even if your not spec'd into tinker / grenade. Firebomb / flashbang, friction burn, incendiary rounds all do fairly decent damage if your running high BS / crit.
I totally overlook firebomb and I've been thinking about it lately. I've seen my corp hits do very significant dmg to heavily armored players and I'm not specced for it at all. Regarding the current build, I did snipe+m2 crit an unguarded lvl 32 zealot for 3200 tonight and I'm a total fail for not getting the ss. Once I get the rest of my dev, I'm definitely going to play around with a BS and crit and experiment with more corp dmg.

Grenades are good, maybe even too good. In 65minus ft it's almost always better to switch to grenades. And they work great with m2. 5-6grenades > 2-3 gun blasts.
Firebomb + expert sk. + m2 = lots of fun :)

Alright Pork, here it goes. My rifleman spec

http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=eng ... :;0:0:0:0:

As was mentioned before, stackin WS isn't makin much sense at this stage. Go BAL and crit all the way, mines at 833 and 21%.
Kiting is obligatory with this ofc, as is positioning. In RVR as well as SCs (RF, TA, HC are made for rdps).
Last thing is target selection cos you ain't gonna take down def tanks or DoKs with this. So I'm goin for sorcs, SHs, maguses, shammies first, then WEs and choppas, zealots... then all the rest of them :D

Now go on, have fun puttin bullets into some heads!

What is the best build for pugging? Would be nice to add common builds to first post.

There are a few options.

I personally like these two.

This is a 32/40 build. I like having snipe and LR because you have good ST for squishy targets and if you get the chance you can M2 spike with a bit of LR, and friction burn if you get guard. You also have extra ammo for AP.

This is another 32/40 build. No snipe but you can still do okay damage with gunblast / crackshot, and good AoE in tinker. The keg really helps when you lack heals. But this is a build where you really gotta pick targets, but it does have nice group utility.

For renown I go crit - and then dodge disrupt on both.

What tactics are you using with this build? BS and attack speed? And what about Grenadier build?

You could also take crack shot on your first build. NVM. I didn't notice LR wasn't selected =D

porkstar wrote:This is my [Rifleman] build. It's probably pretty standard. waronlinebuilder.org - Engineer build
Tactics: Well-Oiled, Masterful Aim, Armor or Hollow Points
Morale: M1-Dodge, M2-100% dmg
Renown: Full WS 34pts (?), Deft defender 4pts, Wounds 1pt, BS 1pt
Gear: Gloves, Boots, Chest - Stalker
Helm - Thickmuck WS, BS, 2% Crit
Shoulders - Devastator
Belt - Qyash WS, BS, 1% crit
Back - Echelon Wrap Skill WS, WOU
Off H - Echelon Spanner +61 BS currently
Gun - Sniper of Rigor
Ring 1 - Underwork +25 BS
Ring 2,3,4 - Frenzied +16 BS, +3AP regen

Stats with Pots:
BS - 715
DMG Bonus: 129
WS - 354
Armor Pen: 30.5%
Crit - 13%
Wou - 423
AP regen - 11/s
Dodge - 9 (according to .getstats in game, I'm not getting the 2% from Stalker boots?)
Disrupt - 9
Spirit Resist - 97!!!!!!!!!!
Armor: 2223 or 1705 (tactic)
Chance to be crit: 15.4%

I do feel like I can put good decent pressure on an unguarded clothie and even some unguarded DoKs but after detaunt, my dmg seems easily tankable and cleansable. IDK I need to find that perfect WS to BS ratio as well.

If a Sorc or Magus even looks at me, I better detaunt and RLH.
I adjusted my build according to the feedback. I basically went all crit and deft defender for renown. I traded a bit of BS for WS in gear as well. I'm 780 BS, 175 WS, 22% crit, 14 dodge, disrupt. Main gear is basically the same. I still do not have full dev. I am also using firebomb a lot more.

I have noticed more crits obviously. I get a few more dodge/disrupts. The biggest difference is that it seems my damage is greater and steadier but I'm not getting the ungodly max crit numbers from snipe. With the WS build my higest crit on a lvl 32 was 3200 (which I'll admit is a freak of nature crit) but overall the max crit # on a physical attack is noticeably less. I think overall the increase in crits makes up for the LOL snipe numbers and I'll probably stick with BS/Crit for now.

Regarding firebomb - You are all correct. It's extremely underrated and overlooked. I smacked a DoK with 4 in a row after Acid Bomb debuff - 4x Crits for 500+ each - The poor guy was melting - It is also a great annoying tank finisher (that last tank that just wont die or the one taking a ton of guard dmg) Sometimes critting tanks for 300-400.
