a question for developers

hello !
I do not know how the encoding of the game, so here is my question.
you talk all the time to change a class, an attack, a buff, ect .... to improve the game play. ok but why not just respect the game as it was in this release? it was not perfect, it's true, but why would absolutely change that? may be they will miss the game given? or maybe it's just the desire to change the way you wish? this is not an attack, but I would just like to know how it works exactly. Thank you !

When things are obviously broken, they get fixed. If you have the power to change the world and you do nothing, the fault lies within yourself.

Be lucky to be playing the game, There are a lot of skills that needed to be fixed or adjusted from live. Some live skills were broken or just didn't work as they were suppose to. Be happy they listen to the community here that is a hard thing to find in Developers. Sometimes change and balance is needed for the game to be healthy, there hasn't really been any major nerfs going around just balance changes.

Let me rephrase the question.

You admit aspects of the game are broken. Why should we not fix them?

Let me translate that for you.

"I played a broken class on live and it was great being head and shoulders above everyone else, the fact that the developers play this game and actually work to fix it scares me and I dont want to love my advantages. Please dont nerf muh toon!!!"
Let's not be too mean ;) Sometimes I worry that the (understandably) negative attitudes and reactions to answering the same questions every week scares more new players away, and hurts us in the long run. As the OP said, they're just curious about our direction. The answer is kind of obvious, as Aza pointed out, but the degree to which we will eventually change the game is up in the air, and is not nearly so obvious as the fact that we will.

My answer to OP's question, "Why," has always been, "because we can and we feel we should." If someone dislikes it, well, the source code is publicly available (up to the point where RoR split from WAREmu), and we have a whole thread dedicated to helping people start their own local instances. In other words, if you disagree with our decisions or direction that severely, you're welcome to go start your own.

I take the continued lack of competition as a tacit agreement that even if someone in the community disagrees with a change we make, to date, every single one of them has either 1. Changed their mind and realized it was a good/neurtral change, 2. Didn't actually care that much about the change, or 3. Didn't actually love WAR so much that they need to play a direct copy.

We were always here to make the game WAR could have been, not the game it was.

Lets be honest:
The game on live was not balanced at all, but no one was listening to the poor war community.
Not one single **** was given about the community and balancing and gameplay or more content.
They Failed in every possible way they could and this server tries to make it better.
Yes ,there will be changes to the classes and gameplay later in development ( as far as i can tell from reading the forums).
And yes, the game needs this because it was never finished by EA/Mythic.

Games need to constantly evolve not just to balance things but to change up the meta to keep things fresh and people constantly interested in the game.

Look at a game like DotA which has been around for 13 years, and it still receives patches that are moving the game forward, and is still no where near perfectly balanced after all those years.

The devs on live admitted that they needed to go through the mirrors one by one and fix what was wrong with them. Patch 1.4.9 with major SM/BO changes was on the test realm when they ended the game. They were planning to do engi/magus next.

So, out of respect for the vision of those devs, this game should achieve its potential.
