Well for purple seed loss, there is a possible "easy" fix. Transform purple seeds as they currently exist, into a unlock item, make a purple seed vendor, allow only one copy per named purple seed on a character. If your purple seed is destroyed, just claim a new one from the unlock vendor.

There is an upside to allowing rebirth mechanic to give actual pvp advantages, you could lower the requirements for gear gains while still maintaining a reason to play the game.
And it can be balanced by increasing gear effect, and flattening the gear curve, while allowing a small persistent gain ...

Yeah, I have several guildies that are basically fully geared on all chars or all they care about, and with no new gear sets or deep content on the near horizon being able to unlock some permanent increases to character from Prestiging would definitely be interesting. Since they have lost interest ...
