As the Age of Reckoning continues in this dark time, many powerful heroes have come to the fray, as they have grown in renown so to have they acquired powerful artefacts, beasts and weapons. Trusting only the most powerful of heroes of control of the incredible bestiary at each army's disposal, these powerful creature are viscous and as deadly as the rider who controls them.
Here is a list of suggested alternative mounts, these mounts are purely cosmetic and offer no additional speed buff or greater defense from being dismounted.
Dark Elves+Chaos:
Manticore - this powerful beast is said to be Khaines fury made manifest, while the powerful manticore is often used by the agents of chaos, the dark elves have the greatest access to these furious beasts.
Chosen and Marauder only:
Juggernauts of Khorne-*
The Juggernaut's heavily armored, partially mechanical bodies are made of living metal and burning blood. They are said to embody the rawest moments of battle, where overwhelming force is prevalent and only the mightiest and toughest can survive. Only those that dedicate themselves to the Blood God can be worthy to ride these terrible creatures.
Chosen only:
Barded Steed
the mounted Chosens known as Chaos Knights are the most infamous of the chaos host, their dreaded power is hastened by malicious and corrupted mounts, barded for war. The chaos chosen that takes to their armoured mount is a worthy foe indeed.
Orcs (Only) -
Wyvrens-*
These foul tempered creatures are one of the most foul smelling creatures imaginable, and their hunger for meat (fresh or not) drives them to the great acts of brutality. It is not surprising that Orcs see common ground with these thick-skulled overbite riddled monsters.
Goblins:
Spiders-*
The Forest Goblins are a menace to any who step foot into the thick and dark woods that cover the empire, while the Forest goblins are strange and cult like compared to the common goblins, they have been persuaded to join the forces of destruction and some of Bloody Sun Gobbo have taken a keen interest in riding these creatures of creeping death.
Dark Elves-
Dark Steeds: During the first wars of Ulthaun, before the sundering, the elves of Nagarythe had access to powerfully fast steeds used by messengers and scouts. Because of the ill tidings surrounding them, these beasts were refereed to as Dark steeds, favoured mounts of the Dark Riders.
When the Druchii fled to the new world many of these horses were brought along on the black arks and now, millennia later, can be seen ridden by the dark masters that favour the haste of such a steed of the brutish power of the dim-witted cold-one.
Empire and Elves:
Griffon:
A Griffon is an impressive site and terrible to behold in battle. Generals of the Empire and Elven princes alike prize these noble beasts above all other mounts, riding them into the depths of battle and inspiring both men and elf to victory. It is no mere coincidence that the Empire forces that fight in the dark battles herald from the Order of the Griffon, a namesake well earned.
Knights, Warrior Priests and Swordmaster:
barded Steeds-
It is no surprise to see the most heavily armoured warriors ride barded steeds into battle. The empire knights bard their mounts with the same plate that they themselves wear, while the lighter elven steeds have ithelmar barding to protect their mounts yet not sacrifice the haste that the elven steeds are known for.
Dwarf:
Gyrocopter*
To many engineering guilds, the Gyrocopter is the pinnacle of dwarfen technology, and the mastery of such a device comes in both it's operation and it's maintenance. As the War advances new and better gyrocopters such as the gyropacks have been developed, but dwarfs are not quick to abandon the tried and true over the new and shiny. It is for this reason the older style gyrocopters continue to be used by the more stubborn dwarfs.
