SC RR and XP explained?

I'm a bit at a loss as to the new RR gain mechanic in SCs.
Damage dealth, DBs, etc. seem to play no role in how much actual RR you get.
Example:
WH - 44,000 damage - 15 kills - 3 deaths / 5 DBs - 6300 RR
BW - 120,000 Damage, 20 kills - 3 deaths / 10 DBs - 2000 RR
(For whatever reason, can't seem to post SSs, just get black screens).
RR level doesn't seem to make a difference either - as my RR 40 friends are getting little to no RR while 100-0ing enemies in SCs.
Anyone mind explaining this to me like I'm a toddler?
Thanks!

Do RR40 players really have to worry about renown they're not gaining? ^^
Still, I'm pretty confused as to how this is calculated as well, some clarification would be nice.

RR 40 players aren't worried about the RR they're not getting, it was just a point of observation to remove that from the checklist of "things that could be affecting RR gain".

I remember a time I joined a SC that ended very shortly (I had 0 dmg) and got top renown and xp. This was in T2 though.

Odd things are indeed happening, multiple times the same situation seems to give random amounts of exp, no reward from some kills that in theory should have given it and other times i get spikes in exp that are stupid.
I am pretty sure i got 8k exp from a kill yesterday thaat was not solo at all, in sc.

I just did a scenario with my BO, did something around 6 solo kills and I play out of SC parties, was getting 3k RPs reward for each kills, I ended the SC with 16k RPs, others players were around 3k.
So maybe in this example some solo kills were made. The rewards are shared between all the players close, so here you can explain the diff of RPs in your example.

Its more like, if you have high RR and you gank a lowbie they are worth less RPs to you. Someone else in your group who is also low RR will get more RPs than you for it.

That's more likely.
To know why a player with less kills is getting more RP, you would also need to know what RR they are and what RR they had DB's against.
If the BW is RR40, most players are going to be lower RR than him, so despite getting a lot of kills, it's not worth a lot of renown. If the WH is RR20 and pulls off a few high RR kills, it'll give him a lot more RP than the BW, even if they're both active on the same kill.
