Can someone tell me what renown and talent to pick and what talismans to use.

go 0/8/15 and go full willpower

now for real u wanna start to play sorc or u got a sorc already at 31/40?

if u got one u should know
if still not go spend some points into int till u reach 800
then go wounds or toughness

however u achieve 800 but after that go tanky cuz u dont need more int

Int wounds and crit are pretty much all you need.

Someone probably did the math for how much int = 1% crit

and the amount of wounds you get is up to preference/playstyle/group etc...

The initial points in certain renown abilities are also very good (Cost effective) like the dodge/disrupt/parry ones.

I disagree with the whole "don't stack higher than soft cap" on a primary stat like Intelligence, Strength or Ballistic Skill.

For example, if I have 800 Intelligence and my target has 500 Toughness, I am only going to hit as if I have 300 Intelligence.

Maximum Intelligence, maximum damage.

If you do want some survivability for when you run solo, run bomb groups, or just like the comfort of being able to make mistakes and maybe live through it - I would stack Wounds over Toughness.
Why?
Because Backlash damage does not get mitigated by Toughness. It is going to hit for 400 (just pulling a number out of the air) regardless of whether you have 3000hp or 5000hp.

Toughness doesn't care about how much power stat the attacker has, only the raw damage of the ability, stacking past the cap doesn't do anything extra for you against high toughness targets compared to a target with 0 toughness.

I wouldn't recommend ever doing it unless you constantly play with a guard bot and pockets or premade setting, and even then only if you almost never run into situations where you die first.

Swap Neverending Agony, Piercing Shadows, Close Quarters, Infernal Gift and Devour Energy depending on the group setup.

A sorc that specs defense is like a Pinto with a seat belt, you're gonna die anyways. MAXDPS!!!

Speccing 20 points into deft defender is actually pretty smart.
Or don't and make a forum thread crying about range kd and fester.
