Return of Reckoning

Gentlemen,

I have a lvl 26 magus. Name: Daemonfire. I was around lvl 17 when the gold wipe occurred. I had about 9 gold to my name from farming. This was all taken. I was not a happy camper as the grinding time for that small amount was made vain. I left the game for some time. I have returned. I leveled to 26. Recently, I went to my bank vault and discovered it wasn't just gold but items that vanished. What I had put in my bank vault was gone. The magus starting chest piece I had stored in my bank vault to use as an appearance item later on is now gone. There are no other versions of it. It can't be bought from merchants. I tried to create another magus and mail my toon the chest piece, but it appears to be bound to the character. What do you suggest? Is there a way to return to me what was taken?

Nope. The wipe affected everyone and removed all unequipped inventory items. They won't be restored.

If it was a gold wipe, why were items taken as well? What was the point of that? Should you opt for another purge : if someone has an appearance item slotted, does that appearance item disappear?

This was discussed/answered already a hundred times.
Long story short:

Exploiters bought legitimately farmed items with exploited gold and/or sold duped items to get legitimately farmed gold.
So the whole "market" was affected and had to be cleansed.
