Friendly dots are fine.
Enemy dots should not be on there - it makes it impossible to try to plan ambushes or try any sneak attacks.

I hate to put words in Aza's mouth since this is really more his realm, but "as soon as we figure out what's causing it" is the usual answer when this issue comes up. We wouldn't let something like this sit around if we could fix it. It's being looked into, but I would guess that it's a lower priority than lag and performance.

I blame the XRealmers. They are causing the dots to appear!!

In all seriousness tho, it's not as bad as it seems. Sneak attacks are seldom as sneaky as one would think, and TTK is long enough for most capped players in small group play that it doesn't really matter. If you're trying to hide your warband behind a rock, you're probably doing it wrong in the first place.

Sneak attacks seldom happen because there is currently no point in trying to do it, because you show up as dots on the map.
And as you say, sneak attacks "aren't as sneaky as one would think", because you show up as dots on the map

You can't "hide behind a rock" to hit the back of the zerg because you show up as dots on the map, resulting in someone saying "BEHIND THIS ROCK!".

You can't hide behind a hill, rocks or other terrain to flank the fight currently happening outside the warcamp, because you show up as dots on the map, resulting in someone saying "BEHIND US!".

You can't hide in the trees in Ellyrion (and they are very good for hiding in, if you have short names lol) because you show up as a dot on the map.

You can't jump off the side of a keep with the intention to follow the enemies into the ground floor of the keep and wipe their backline, because you show up as dots on the map moving around the keep.

TL:DR - the reason why sneak attacks seldom happen and aren't effective is due to showing up as dots on the enemy map.

If you use /anon and /hide, your dot won't show up on the map

If Praag goes live, and the dots are still on the map, it's going to be an engineer cry-fest on the forums.

Pressing [ALT] and the [F4] key works as well. All the Dots disappear!
