For some reason the launcher does not accept my username / password but it works on the forum is there anything i can do to get this game working?

As you have no character on this account, your best bet is to create a new one with an all lower-case letters and no numbers. The launcher seems to have issues with those.
Unfortunately in some cases, passwords take a while to register properly on the server for some reason.
