Return of Reckoning

As of recently ive been having problems with using swiftassist to other players out of party. Anytime i use the macro swiftsetassist to someone not in my party then press assist nothing happens. The person can be visably attacking a enemy and my swiftassist name is showing their name but nothing is happening. The only time it works is if someone is in the same party as me, it works just fine. If im in a warband, and i swiftassist the main leader and hes not in my party it doesnt work at all. I tested it at the dummies with a friend and i couldnt assist his target at all but right when we partied up it worked just fine.

Ive tried 2 different UI packs, viny and fisks. What could be causing this? im not the only one this is happening to as well, had a couple others tell me they are experiencing the same issue.

I just did pretty extensive testing. Tried setswiftassist on someone with all mods off except for swiftassist and it didnt work until they joined my party. The moment they joined my party it work just fine. Ive tried 2 UI packs, one from fisk and the other from viny, both had the same issues, I couldnt assist someone outside of a party but the moment they joined i could set them as target lead and swiftassist to each of their targets no problem.

The times in worked in party, i asked the said person to leave and target something else. The moment they target a different object after leaving party the previous target would pop up from when they were in the party. Their new target wasn't showing up at all.

Earlier today i was in a pug warband, i tried making the leader the main assist but even that didnt work because he was in a didnt party within the warband. Something happened after the ring event.

TLDR; Yes im using the correct macros, Yes ive cleared cache each time ive tried the different UI packs. Yes i uninstalled both my game and addons as well. Ive done everything from going barebones to using the full shabang of addons within the packs ive listed. Ive tried at the dummy area and also in the lakes.

Could use help on this.

I have noticed sporadic issues lately as well, especially yesterday, same thing. In party was fine out of party was not working.

From years out of party/wb assist function is not working, no idea if it is on purpose but that how it is from quite some time

The swiftassist page on Idrinth mentions it's not working due to bug 17526. Looking up bug 17526 suggests the bug has not been fixed so swiftassist (like /assist) won't work outside of wb/group. If I've read this all right then it's a bug and not something on client side, so reinstalling etc. won't help till bug is fixed. And as last bug confirmation was end of March and the bug was first listed in August 2023 and is listed as a minor issues, maybe we'll be waiting for a fix.

My problem was not exactly the same, but relevant.

Try to change the swiftassist macro with:
/script SwiftAssist.Inactive(I."assist")"

After you do that the problem could be fixed and the macro text will return to normal.

ah i know that 2 people in my guild had the same / similar problem, when assist didnt work at all. There was an addon blocking the swift assist, i dont remember wich one it was. I will ask if i catch them.
If you wanna try to solve it yourself, take some time and unhook your addons one by one, until you found the one causing the issue. Thats how they trouble shooted it.
