Hi Errede,
I have a well-geared Witch Elf named "Tschuss," and I know the game well.
To help you improve, I suggest focusing on 3 key points while keeping in mind that you’re a new player, so I don’t want to overwhelm you with too much information.
1 - Gear/Build
2 - Gameplay
3 - UI/Addons
1 - Gear/Build
Renown Points:
Melee Crit -> 4 ranks
Futile Strikes -> 3 ranks
Parry -> 2 ranks
Critical strike percentage is the strongest stat in RoR. Most good players aim for a solid balance between high damage output and good survivability. If you play a lot solo, you can invest a bit more into Parry.
Talismans:
Mix of Strength and Wounds
Armor Sets:
As much as possible, until you get your BiS gear, mix 2 sets to benefit from the stat bonuses of both (Wounds and Strength).
I won’t go into the best way to reach BiS without spending your tokens here.
Possible spec at your level :
A - Around the one you are playing nowadays

B - An other option :

2 - Gameplay
Forget the “Kill the healer first” propaganda — it doesn’t work in most MMOs (WoW, Albion, RoR, etc.).
In scenarios, prioritize DPS targets without Guard first. For example, focus on the ones rushing your healers — generally, players who do that aren’t very good, they tend to overextend, which makes them easier to kill.
Switch targets quickly to secure easy kills and force enemy healers and tanks into making mistakes. Focus frontline targets first, and don’t hesitate to test your damage on tanks.
Only rarely venture into enemy backlines at the start of fights.
Try to die less often. Play around your defensive cooldowns, use detaunt proactively when playing without a tank, and push/back off to drop aggro while giving your healers room to breathe and reposition.
You can also assist another DPS when you see that you’re both on the same page.
Basic damage rotation : 1 envenomed blade -> wrackling pains -> 2 envenomed blade -> Heart Render -> Ruthless assault -> Pierce armor
3 - UI/Addons
Enemy and Buffhead
You can’t play this game properly without an optimized UI. You need to:
See tank Guards on both enemies and allies
Track DoTs on yourself to anticipate incoming damage
Monitor important defensive/offensive morales
You’ll find ways to optimize this on the forums.
I can also send you gameplay videos if you’d like.
