Return of Reckoning

Ive played the last three days without a single issue, nothings changed about my computer or set up.

I log in today, im in maybe 3 minutes, CTD.

Reopen launcher, it crashes.

Restart, get passed launcher, select my character, crashes.

Do some basic checking, get into nordland RvR for maybe 30 seconds, CTD.

I dont see any associated events windos event viewer logs.

I have a GeForce GTX 4070, 2TB samsung SSD, Intel core i9. Its a good machine, and no issues prior to today. And I played a lot last night without an issue and the two days prior since I came back.

Edit/update- Now the launcher wont even open. I tried running in different compatibility modes thinking as an older game this might help. It did not.

Edit 2- I did all the trouble shooting from the stickied posts involving the launcher. I was able to get the launcher to pop up for two seconds but it went away. I went to do the .NET setuff, 2.0 and 3.0 were both there, but when I checked the box and applied it gave me an error message that flashed quickly but it said something to the effect of not all aspects were applied, or not all aspects were changed or something like that. And now the launcher wont open at all again.

Ok I tried the .net thing again, this time it went further, told me windows needed to download files to complete the process. There was a a wait of like 15 minutes and when the green bar completed it said

"Windows couldnt complete the requested changes.

The remote procedure call failed.

Error 0x800706BE"

I hit tell me how to solve this problem, and it brought up the original window that said "An error has occurred, not all features were successfully changed"

The site it brings you to for help does not include this error code.

Edit-Ok I ran a bunch of repair stuff in CMD, went to do it again, ran through the whole thing got a different error code 0x800F080D

This seems to be related to windows update issues. Since switching to windows 11 there has been this one update thats been "stuck" i called microsoft about it, they know about it. trying to install it creates a blue screen so it just stays stuck with an error.

I dont know if theres a work around this, but I hate windows 11 so much Ive had nothing but issues since installing it when windows 10 stopped getting support.


The only thing i cant figure out is why the game worked flawlessly for 4 days and this started happening out of nowhere.

OK, it was due to the update.

i found something that said to delete the pending.xml file, I didnt have one.

So google said go to windows- software distribution and delete everything there.

That finally allowed me to follow this from the launcher FAQ

Win10 does not have .net 3.5 enabled by default.

a) Press “Windows Logo” + “R” keys on the keyboard.
b) Type “appwiz.cpl” in the “Run” command box and press “ENTER”.
c) In the “Programs and Features” window, click on the link “Turn Windows features on or off”.
d) Check if the “.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)” option is available in it.
e) If yes, then enable it and then click on “OK”.



That said, the game is still crashing me out. i have no idea what do.

I got the launcher up, and go to character select, it either crashes out right there or when I choose a character.
