Infinite Patience Quest bugged out at one of the final steps

Infinite patience.
Used the chosen spear on the first and third step.
Went to use it on the second and it was no longer in my backpack.
Unable to complete quest now, been trying to do this for the better part of a month, some help would be appreciated
