Is it? I haven't played for 2 years so I'm just wondering, I know it used to be but maybe different now?

Just had a guy do it which I clipped.

Lovely to see some peoples absolute behaviour never changes lol

This hasn't been a bannable offense for a very long time. Currently there is a message in chat if someone crashes their client near you, and if you did some significant damage to them you should be credited and rewarded for the kill.

In large part, we don't feel its necessary to punish people for running away or not engaging a drastically unfair fight when they're roaming for small scale fights.

Good to see you nonetheless Grimir, I've not played for 2 years came back the other day.

You've the fortitude of indescribable beings to still be running this.

Came to see what's new and I may or may not stick around; we'll see :)

I don't get it...why was WR nerfed then?
Crashing the game is ok, but using an ingame feature is'nt?

People weren't getting banned for war reporting either. It's not like the devs can put in a timer before someone crashes their own game. What are we even arguing here?

Exatcly, you can crash the game every minute if you want to...WR has a (fairly) long cd...and yet WR was nerfed and game crashers are not punished.

I can't really speak to dev/design decisions.

There's always a struggle in finding the balance between what should be punishable, as they're finding out with the scenario changes trying to encourage people into fighting. Even in situations where teams are created relatively even, people will find ways to avoid fighting if they feel their chances are close to zero. This goes for solo roaming as well.

The difference between client crashing and war report, WR didn't give an in-game indicator as to how or why a player disappeared. Client crashing should drop a message in chat. Now there's a cast bar and some animation before/as you disappear which is consistent with other ways to teleport to zones, whether that's the book of binding or scrolls.

I understand if its a difficult task to deal with client crashers from a coder standpoint, and I accept that.
However....
-many times crashing won't give you any msg, even if the player is half dead
-can be done while in combat (you could not use WR in combat , even when it was instant cast)
-no 'CD'
-taking a sc pop instantly ports you, just like WR did, no msg

I rarely ever used WR to escape a fight, even when it was insta, but when I saw your post about not wanting to punish people for getting out of a hopeless fights, I couldnt help but wonder.
