I made a little experiment during this weekend event scenario - Battle of praag, queuing mid tier bracket.

This are typical numbers I got running shield dok - learning myself and getting idea how that class perform.
Anyway, results below:



After every won or lost scenario there is a bonus on top of made kills and assists incomes, disparity of ratio is quite shocking.
Normally kills or assists give ticks with ratio 5:1 - 10:1, but the bonuses are huge. I see a problem here.
As you can see on right side, normally exp required to lvlup and renown for same rank is around 13:1 - 16:1 ratio, but if u take into account having renown pot and running only scenarios, that leads to overstack ranks and renown ranks lags behind, especially if you cummulate "lost scenarios bonuses" with ratio 68:1.

That leads to a suggestion to tweak ratio of bonus granted for a scenario. I strongly believe while leveling up it harm players in a long run to give them free huge chuncks of exp and little renown, they should have a better chance to maintain healthy career rank : renown rank ratio.

As a result, I never could keep up my renown rank above career rank, I lvled up 1-10 running quests in Orc City and rest are scenarios spam.

Fully agree. This has been a problem since the removal of the xp reduction scrolls. New characters will lag behind in both crests and renown with the current system.

I would agree that this is a problem if scenarios were the only way to get renown. If you do a mix of 50/50 scenarios and RvR then I suspect that you will not have any issues at all. If you're completely avoiding RvR, then perhaps the issue is not the bonuses but how you are playing the game (since RvR is the primary purpose of this game's existence).

Miss the xp scroll and R40-RR60/70
Now when you log a toon, with xp bonus from far login + bonus weekend SC you take 3 lvl in 5 sc wins.
So without xp scroll you ding 40 RR35/45. No crest, no RR, free food in orvr or sc.
Your only solution is make full PVE for a "good" gear and become not useless in orvr/sc

They're the only way to get renown while having a fair fight against people the same level as you though. Forcing new players to choose between facing rank 80s in RvR or allowing their renown rank to lag before entering T4 is likely one of the contributing reasons to the state of the game's population.

Devs said mid tier twinks were a detriment to new player retention, so they took xp scrolls, and if i recall correctly added xp in mid tier?
Mid tier twinks never felt different to me than t1 twinks or being new to t4.
I recommend any new player does weekly rvr for genesis crests from bags and the weekly, as you level.

No one I've spoken to who levels purely through SC can keep their RR up to their CR with the current balance. It still won't be ahead even if you do weekly RvR every week, which is already a pretty decent time investment, unless your faction is the winner every week.

SCs are just not a viable way to level anymore. even in t4 you're happy to get 1k per match. granted 90% of t4 SCs end in surrender but that's a different issue

exp scrolls were never the answer. as i leveled 10+ alts over the years i vividly remember how a single slayer/choppa/msh/am/shaman, sometimes even a 2h tank could single handedly carry/terrorize midtier for weeks. hell, i ran some of above mentioned myself. even on a 2h kotbs its was possible to lead damage and kills by a huge margin in its 30's.
