Return of Reckoning

subject says it all. downloaded via torrent, ran updater, ensured firewall access, yet the launcher lacks connection to the login server. have an HP AiO 23, running Windows 8.1. no expectations of the game running well, but cannot even access it to judge.

windows Defender or any other Antivirus software maybe?
