packet loss

hello i recently began playing the game again after a few month hiatus. before i had coherent play and never had any sort of lag problems other than just normal 100 ish latency. now when i play i get frequent 100% lag outs(i can move around but no skills will trigger, and other players do not move) for upwards of 10 seconds after which the game will "fast forward" to catch up. ive tried a fresh install, and installed on another computer and have the same issues. the game is rather unplayable in this state, and its the only game i play with this sort of issue. these lag outs occur quite frequently, though usually they last for 1-2 seconds they can last upwards of 10seconds. any help would be appreciated.

Try with VPN. If you are far away from France, this can happen if your ISP takes weird routes to the server

if servers are from France, i should connect to France on my VPN?

test here and let me know me what it tell you in "bufferbloat" section (what values you reach,if you go above 100 you will lag), sometimes it can be fix.

-also limiting downlaod in router will fix packet los exemple 800 kb is max fo line, cap at 700 will reduces some packet los and make ping more stable,
-also sometiems bad computer setting for internet can cause warhamemr latency us tcp optimizer can help https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

i can see you are from USA, then is normal to have some ping issues when server is in france, try a vpn as they told you and/or try cap the download limit ( if you can for just warhammer app ) to around 200 kb, instead full line power 1800 kb / 18 m.

the problem with download cap is that it's about if you can do it or not in the router, not all does it and even less does it for application only, but give it a check.

The speedtests may give you a false sense of success because if you are in NA they will only test against NA targets. The RoR game server is in France and you should test specifically against it to rule out last hop issues.

From the cmd of your OS, ping this server directly and note the time (in ms) and lost number of packets. For example:

C:\ping 164.132.206.172

Pinging 164.132.206.172 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 164.132.206.172: bytes=32 time=94ms TTL=51
Reply from 164.132.206.172: bytes=32 time=95ms TTL=51
Reply from 164.132.206.172: bytes=32 time=95ms TTL=51
Reply from 164.132.206.172: bytes=32 time=99ms TTL=51

Ping statistics for 164.132.206.172:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 94ms, Maximum = 99ms, Average = 95ms

You shouldnt be dropping any packets and your ms should be under ~200ms or you are going to have problems. You can run this several times. This particular example (95ms and zero packet loss) is from a healthy connection from the East Coast of US.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have problems, you can also run a pathping which will isolate which hop is to blame:

c:\pathping 164.132.206.172

Tracing route to ns3069639.ip-164-132-206.eu [164.132.206.172]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
0 DESKTOP.myfiosgateway.com [X.X.X.X]
1 G3100.myfiosgateway.com [192.168.1.1]
2 ns3069639.ip-164-132-206.eu [164.132.206.172]

Computing statistics for 50 seconds...
Source to Here This Node/Link
Hop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address
0 DESKTOP.myfiosgateway.com [X.X.X.X]
0/ 100 = 0% |
1 14ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% G3100.myfiosgateway.com [192.168.1.1]
0/ 100 = 0% |
2 18ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% ns3069639.ip-164-132-206.eu [164.132.206.172]

Trace complete.

i dont know why test packet loss when is for sure a distance problem and not related to MTU, it's clear that big bandwitch server want to go cheap by send less packet and so ping became higer....

either:
-cap the download
-use vpn to make "routing" more efficent
-both

If you can choose which country to connect through with your VPN set it to France.
