I've tried to keep up with all the updates and fixes, but if someone could give me the tl;dr on major changes since Live. I know the first couple months of this being up, but after that not so much.
Also looking for old friends/guildies from badlands/gorfang

Since no one has responded yet, I'll give you a little info. I didn't play on Live so can't answer the specifics of changes. The
Wiki provides some details of changes from live.
I can tell you a bit about what is currently in the game:
- Quest - many baseline leveling quests are in the game and continue to be fixed or added
- Public Quests - in the game, including the Chapter 22 PQs which require a Warband to complete
- Dungeons - up to Bastion Stair currently available
- Scenarios - many scenarios are in the game and continue to be tweaked
- Tier 1 RvR - for levels up to CR 15
- Tier 2 - 4 RvR - for levels CR 16+ (all tiers 2+ have a combined population for RvR with bolstering for lower-level characters)
- Fort Battles - open when a realm wins Tier 4. They are currently tweaking the number of participants allowed on each side.
- City Sieges - open when a realm wins 2 Forts. 24 vs 24 instanced with 3 stages
- Gear - up to Sovereign
- Classes - continue to be balanced and tweaked regularly
- Tier 4 Accessory Tome unlocks (eg. Winds Impervious set)
- Professions - can have 1 gathering and 1 crafting profession
The game is very alive and well regularly sees 1500+ simultaneous peak players. The devs take good care of it, providing weekly updates which include balance patches, mechanic updates, and a weekly featured Scenario that awards +50% experience. Over the past few months, the devs have also facilitated 3 twitch drop events with generous free goodies for twitch viewers. Pretty good overall for a free to play private server.
