Return of Reckoning

Tried with VPN and without. Tried reinstalling 5 times. Tried moving to different directory. Tried turning off my firewall.

Tried to download the audio myp replacer file, no luck.

At one point I got this error but all the other times it's been what happens in the video:

I have followed this guide viewtopic.php?f=4&t=31241

And I also tried following Zarbixx's YT guide for installation - Neither of these worked.

However, back in 2016 I remember using a custom client from the user called Jefawks in his thread, and I am quite sure this client actually worked for me when I had problems at that time too, but the download for this custom client is no longer available.

This was the thread with the custom launcher that worked for me: viewtopic.php?t=18

Hmm couple of things worth considering.
1: you are running the installer in an empty directory. This should be started in the same directory as the game files. The game files should be downloaded by torrent
2: in another post you mentioned that you could not remover write protect flag, sounds like you placed the game files under program files , this is special windows area so best to put it like in video under desktop or off the root so like c:\returnofreckoning\
3: maybe even worth trying to run the application as admin

Application is in the same directory as game files and is always run as administator.

I have tried playing it in C: before and it hasn't worked either. I keep the files on desktop.

FIXED!

Asked a friend for help and together we managed to figure out the problem, which was that my GPU drivers were corrupted - meaning I would have to do a full cleaning of them aswell as download new drivers from the NVIDIA website manually.

We found out by utilizing event viewer in windows, Administrative Events.



If anyone else has the same problem as me I'll post now here how we did it:

First, you download this https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/view ... f=5&t=2553

^ This is the software you need to completely clean any and all drivers and driver related stuff that is on your PC.

Second, whilst holding down the shift button, navigate to the bottom left menu and while still holding shift and clicking Restart PC - Keep holding Shift untill windows gives you the blue screen where you can select what to do, in which case what you want is to put the computer in Safe Mode for the upcoming driver removal.



Third, you go click on the software you downloaded and input these settings





After this I went to the NVIDIA website to DL the latest driver - Then after install I was able to play the game again.

We pinpointed that the main offender was " nvd3dum.dll"

Made a point that this error wasn't really ROR's fault as I was also trying to play STALKER Call of Pripyat which is also a slightly older gamer but also getting the same crash error.
