Game crashes the further it loads the world

I've downloaded the game via "game download" button online, and finally the starter has finished updating every file. I get to launch the game and it shows and plays the character menu smoothly, but as soon as I log into my character the world starts to lag and the further I travel from the starting zone the audio becomes corrupt and the game crashes without warning or error. Can someone enlighten me on the issue of why it's doing this?
