We currently dont have to fight for BOs/resource. We can do all of this without engaging the enemy.
The game is meant to make progress without fighting?

In regards to RvR and not instanced PvP, objectives should be there to prevent the game from just being whoever has more numbers wins.
In instanced PvP those objectives arent as neccessary because a difference in numbers shouldnt be as much of a factor.
It is the tendency of most players to try and avoid a fight, unless the numbers are even or they are on the larger side. If you are avoiding a fight you are either looking for more players or looking for a smaller group so you have the advantage. The problem then becomes they will try to avoid a fight when they are at a disadvantage.
That behavior actually makes sense which is why it's hard to fix it. It is also why instanced PvP is much better if you are actually interested in competition.

The objectives should be there as a reason to fight over them. There's no war without objectives to win. First you need a agenda to fight, global domination, economic growth, defence and so on. To reach those goals there's objectives that you need to claim in form of terratories, resources and so on that you need the controll over and blocking those rewards are obstacles.
Fighting for the sake of fighting isn't logical.

I thought it was enough that there are dwarfs still alive, always motivated to try and eradicate these foot stools from roaming around without a lead on them

The agenda of the orcs is global domination. Dwarfs are the obstacles as they are in direct proximity. Objectives are controlling the choke points that prevent the Orcs from swarming them. Orcs would be completly unstoppeble if it weren't for their own annimosity, as them killing each other is the only thing that prevenrmts them from reaching a critical quantity to be able to overwealming the Dwarf choke points.

the game is meant to progress, it is either you to choose how and enemy stop progress you by fight you if necessary, or you are forced to fight if it's necessary to progress, when and how it's called strategy....

it makes sense bcause gain/loose an objective is not important what if all objective where important to hold all the tieme all togheter for ranking? if you must hold it you cant decide to simply leave.... hence need a system which require hold more objectiv3e simultaneusly, this will also spread pop all over map.
then the deciding if fighting or not became even mroe complex and require a whole realm spreading liek a net strategy with flanking all over the map etc.
sounds fun.
