Return of Reckoning

Had a question in regards to the contribution in RVR. This week, there has been multiple times where I'll be in a zone 2+ hours and have to log off for the evening. When I return on the same character and the zone has locked I don't receive any reward (Medallions, Seals, etc.) Is this a new thing? In the past I've usually always received a reward of some kind in my mailbox.

Note: I do know all contribution is lost if you switch to a different character on same side so that is not the issue.
