Need help choosing a class..

Hi guys! 
First time playing Warhammer and I'm really enjoying the feel of it - takes me back to my EQ days!
That said, I'm struggling a bit to find a class I like. So far, I've played 4ish hours on a DoK and, while it is fun, I find the playstyle a bit..lacking. I don't know if its because I have no abilities or what, but it takes quite a while to get anything done really - It took me quite a while for the second public quest you come across!
So..here I am. Looking for advice!
I'd like: decent damage, good survivability, and the ability to be a solo player. I started with a friend but I don't think he's gonna play very much
