I've let this run all day now its downloading more stuff what gives?!?!?

You need to run the patcher from inside your game folder, not from any other foder.

I did now it started over and taking forever

Once you downloaded everything and can play the game, you should close the client again and download the missing files (for example if you can't open your bags, or the ground is all black).
That happened to me, but it didn't take long.
