thought id post this just cause its a bit unusual and I was curious if other people have gone further.
After coming back to war my main goal was just renown rank and to do it fast as I was once rr100 on live and its the longest and most tedious task.
So I literally just did ORVR/solo roaming. I am about to ding RENOWN RANK 60 and im still Rank 39. Will probably hit 40 and 60 very close together. Considering I have all beast lord which was pve, I have been doing pqs too, and scenarios to get all the armour sets, and scenarios give a lot of experience as well. That's a lot of exp points that wasn't ORVR. Also considering patch change was a week ago which helps renown rank a lot, I could imagine someone getting to renown rank 65 before dinging 40 if they just did ORVR by itself.
Just wondering if anyone else got more than 60 before dinging 40. I understand its not beneficial to be under 40, so its unlikely to be done in this order.

Before the major changes to rvr, around the change of conc pieces in bags for pre 40s. I lvled my suiggy solely through rvr and scs. I was rr 57-58 ish when i hit rank 40. Had enough conc med's to buy full set of conc, both sub weapons and 3 out of the 4 gen trinkets.

That has been the last toon i lvled to 40, i think though when i lvl my nexr one it will be just scs. Depends what gear/class i choose

I don't have any conqueror or genesis or dominator/sc weapons at all. Gotta collect those now.

During Live I got my SW to rr69 or rr70 before hitting 40, but i was running with a premade constantly. Was the highest anyone I ever spoke with had ever seen as far as i remember.

On live with XP-Book I kept it double my rank, so 79 at 40.

Here with XP reduction it's been 55, with the old loot system already had full Conq, Sub and Gen (almost two sets), now it's possible to at least have full Conq with medaillons, but harder for Sub/Gen.

I would always prefer XP reducer again, especially with removal of RR drain.

Why would you slow down xp gain with -75% scroll, when rp gain depends on yours and your target rr and not your rank?

personal reasons. also no sense with merged tiers.

Hey is that Darkdeadly the magus from Karak Norn that knew the magus Krust?

My Marauder got to rank 40 and was rr 4 I was proud of that one

under newer system i've seen lvl 15's with RR 30+ but with merged tiers... 16+ there is no point holding back xp in our guild wb... because rr 40 / 4th tactic is more important...

I think the best i know of was a WH guildie was in rr 50's (with renown returns decreased... so he probally would of been 60+ if renown is how it is now)

I forgotten a lot of people from norn, but when I hear/see there name then it all comes back to me :p

Thanks for pointing this out, but I really didn't waste any thoughts on RR gain dependencies tbh.
It may be a thing I have been used to since live, but however it's not senseless in my experience.

First of all you spend more time bolstered and use this advantage as long as possible, until the drawback at 31 comes.
Apart from that there is a difference between grinding to 40 at around RR 40 or already having RR 50 and even more, where you have a bunch more points to use instantly when hitting 40 (or equipping the first lvl 40 item, what actually triggers the unlock).
The best effort to gain RR is between 16 and 30 actually, so maxing out this time frame doesn't look senseless to me.
After hitting 31 grinding to 40 may be legit, when your RR is already high enough though to avoid a bit the bolster loss.

In any case, the longest time you spend on a main char will be from 40 upwards, especially without ending at RR 80 now.

Last not least to Wam's post: I understand from a guild/premade perspective that the goal is rather to get all slots/abilities for grouping, but only if that is the structure you play in.
